2. Introduction
 The director and principal investigator for the Art of
Science Learning (AOSL) initiative, Harvey Seifter is an
arts-based learning professional working in New York,
NY. In addition to his role with AOSL, Harvey Seifter
contributes to arts education through his position as a
visiting associate professor at the Pratt Institute Graduate
School of Art.
The Pratt Institute is a post-secondary school for
students studying the fine arts, including various skills
within the subjects of design, architecture, and digital
arts. Each year, the school hosts the Legends
Scholarship Benefit, an event that honors individuals who
have made significant contributions to the fields of art
and design.

3. Pratt Institute
 All proceeds from the benefit are used to generate
need- and merit-based financial-aid scholarships for
talented students who wish to receive an arts
education at the Pratt Institute.
Past recipients of a Legends Award include Marc
Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Patti Smith, and Robert
Siegel, among many others. The 2015 ceremony
was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and raised
$800,000 in scholarship funds.
