1. What have you learned from your audience feedback
?
EVALUATION QUESTION
2. With this idea due to the issue of
having to use alt of post
production we decided to further
research this and try and adjust
our treatment to create a better
basis for our film
We later dropped the idea and
started a new one.
Audience Feedback Of Our Treatment
For the first idea my
partner and I came
up with their was a
lot of negative
feedback. Bellow is a
small list of bullet
point of the pointers
we got back from our
target audience
• The story does not
establish a good use of
narrative
• Hard for the audience to
sympathies with the
character
• Story doesn't’t seem like
a realistic chain of events
3. Second Idea Scrip Feedback
• Make clear that Lucas becomes deaf
• Lucas has difficulty communicating
• Establish Lucas's love for music
• Needs a crisis point for him to
doubt, almost to give up
• Create pity for Lucas
• Make Mike more sincere
• Mum discussing with band members
about Lucas
• The band and Lucas both audition for the
open mic night
• The script needs a point of attack.
We got feedback for our second script from our target audience. bellow
is a few comments our audience made to improve our script.
4. From this audience feedback we believed that we should use this criticism to
continue building our story. So then using this research we will then be able to
add a lot of texture to our very flat trajectory of narrative, to connect with
audience expectations of engagement and emotional attachment with our short
film.
5. Narrative Discussions
During particular stages of the film during pre production and post
production we had a series of narrative discussions on the progression
of the film. Bellow is a list of bullet points of feedback from each areas
of production.
Pre Production
• thought that our idea was overly complex
• the character was not complex enough
• illogical to presume that our character
went deaf over night
• emotions behind losing his hearing
weren’t prominent
Post Production
• The texting scene does not work , not engaging
• Need to establish more pity for Lucas
• Need to develop on Mike and Lucas’s mums characters reactions and performance within the
scenes.
• Kitchen scene is not well shot and the argument does not explain enough to the audience
• Develop Lucas's means of communication
6. Organized Focus Group (Age Range 16-19y Old)
• The focus group contained female and male students of the ages 17-19 ,
• They were usually introduced to them through the older generation or before a feature film
in the cinema
• short film sites do not have a strong popularity within this age group
• the audiences of short films are people who are studying media or film, amateur film
makers and go to short film festivals.
i now have a stronger understanding of
what kind of audience i will be dealing with
in order to make a very strong and
interesting short film that will appeal to my
target audience.
Although the focus group was not of my
target audience the group helped me
establish my audience and also give me a
stronger understanding to the promotion
of short films.
7. Audience Feedback Of Our Poster
After getting feedback and further critically
analysing it i realised that my partner and i had
to create more of a conventional poster and also
approaching the poster in a way to create a
sense of synergy with the film and the magazine
article.
I asked my target audience what they thought was bad and what improvements I needed to make
for my poster.
Bellow is a some bullet points on feedback I got back
• The poster does not use all of the
conventional conventions of your film
• The poster does not strongly work
with your magazine article with
synergy
• Image is not enough information for
reader
• Dies not tell the reader enough to get
an understanding of the film
9. • No strapline
• Picture grainy
• Need to remove lines around stars
• Not everything is level
• Gutter too big
• Too much space from bottom of
collums and end of page
Magazine Article Feedback
Before finishing our magazine
article we decided to show our
target audience to see if we
should make any changes.
Bellow is a list of bullet points
on the feedback.
10. Magazine Article Finale Version
After going through our
research we then rectified our
magazine article and have
now finished with our finale
draft which is to the left f the
