3. JF-17 Thunder , ایف جے-١٧گرج , CAC FC-1 Xiaolong is an
advanced, light-weight, all weather, day / night multi-role
fighter aircraft; developed as a joint venture between
Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Kamra and
Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC) of China.
The first test flight of the first prototype took place during
2003 in China
In Pakistan it was put on display in year of 2007 .
The state-of-the art avionics, optimally integrated sub-
systems, computerized flight controls and capability to
employ latest weapons provides decisive advantage to JF-17
over adversaries of same class all weather, multi-role light
combat fighter has remarkable high combat maneuverability
at medium and low altitudes.

6. In February 1992, CATIC (China Aero Technology
Import and Export Corporation) invited the Pakistan
to invest in the project in return for huge Transfer of
Technology and participation in R&D of the project.
Pakistan Accepted.
The First Flight was planned in 1996, but it got delayed
because Pakistan wished to upgrade the characteristics
in response to India’s acquisitions of Su-30MKI. The
project began to Stagnate. But in 1998, Pakistani PM’s
visit to China resulted in the continuation of the
Program.
In 1999, sanctions on Pakistan led to serious setbacks
on the program. Pakistan hoped to install Western
Avionics on the plane, which was now not possible.
The First JF-17 was assembled by May,2003

9. The avionics software of JF-17 is based on civilian C++
Language, Motorola 88000 microprocessor ,
For communication, the JF-17 is equipped with
VHF/UHF radios. equipped with single Russian made
RD-93 Turbofan engine , Radar Warning Receiver
which warns the pilot for any incoming Radar guided
missile or even any missile lock.

modern as well as conventional weapons, including:
• 70-100 Km active missiles (BVR)
Highly agile Imaging infra red short range missiles
Air to sea missiles
