Questionnaire’s collect quantitative data. It is a useful
way to collect large amounts of information from a
big group of people, in a certain period of time.
It will be used in the film industry in order to gain
results to see what genre and type of films people
may have interest in.
The results are quantified and made more widespread.
I personally have used a questionnaire for a unit on
my games design, the results helped a lot with
developing my game.
People feel more open to doing questionnaires
because they stay unidentified, making them feel
more comfortable with answering it.
Focus groups receive qualitative data.
People are asked to share their views and
opinions on a film. Through this the film or
product gains a rating from a critic.
Journalists will watch the film and share
their opinion on the paper, people then
read it and make a decision on whether to
watch it or not.
A test screening is an early viewing of a
movie or TV show. They do this to
measure their reactions. They also do this
to examine their views on the film or TV
show. They use a sample of people who
represent the population.
The audience members then get to have
their say in the end by putting through their
opinion on the film or TV series via a
questionnaire.
 The last method is a set up box. Organisations would want
to assess the audience members who are watching. I have
never been one who has been assesed. This records
exactly what someone is watching. The members of the
panel show how much people are watching by pressing a
specific button on the remote handset.
 BARB are extremely beneficial for advertising companies.
This is because BARB numbers allow advertising
companies to know what time most people are active on the
TV and on what channel. So advertising companies would
know what time slot is best to reach the largest number of
audience members. This is also beneficial for the television
company as they’ll get money from adverts playing on their
channel.

  • 2. Questionnaire’s collect quantitative data. It is a useful way to collect large amounts of information from a big group of people, in a certain period of time. It will be used in the film industry in order to gain results to see what genre and type of films people may have interest in. The results are quantified and made more widespread. I personally have used a questionnaire for a unit on my games design, the results helped a lot with developing my game. People feel more open to doing questionnaires because they stay unidentified, making them feel more comfortable with answering it.
  • 3. Focus groups receive qualitative data. People are asked to share their views and opinions on a film. Through this the film or product gains a rating from a critic. Journalists will watch the film and share their opinion on the paper, people then read it and make a decision on whether to watch it or not.
  • 4. A test screening is an early viewing of a movie or TV show. They do this to measure their reactions. They also do this to examine their views on the film or TV show. They use a sample of people who represent the population. The audience members then get to have their say in the end by putting through their opinion on the film or TV series via a questionnaire.
  • 5.  The last method is a set up box. Organisations would want to assess the audience members who are watching. I have never been one who has been assesed. This records exactly what someone is watching. The members of the panel show how much people are watching by pressing a specific button on the remote handset.  BARB are extremely beneficial for advertising companies. This is because BARB numbers allow advertising companies to know what time most people are active on the TV and on what channel. So advertising companies would know what time slot is best to reach the largest number of audience members. This is also beneficial for the television company as they’ll get money from adverts playing on their channel.
