Institutional aspects of comedy trailers
- 1. Institutional Aspects of Horror Trailers Hash Tags: Hash tags are a good example of an institutional aspect. Hash tags are a good way of spreading the word about something, like a movie, hash tags are mostly used on twitter and work very well. On twitter, if a hash tag starts to rend then are put in a box the left of the screen which will say “things trending now” if a hash tag is in this box that means lots of people are saying this hash tag, so something like #ParanormalActivity would be there you can click it and it will tell you about it. Hash Tags can trend nationally or internationally so that way they get more attention to them because if people see one that is international and it’s a movie that will get a lot of ratings and people will be more interested. This is a good way to get a movie popular because when people see the trailer and is has a hash tag in it, they will tweet something about it luring more people in and getting the movie known. Institutional logos: Institutional logos are a way of showing the company that made the movie; they would normally do this in the very beginning of the trailer to promote their company and make sure the audience know it was them who made it. This is the logo they used during their anniversary Another thing they might include in the trailer is “From the creators of” they might include this to help interest people more just in case they are doubtful about the trailer, they might see that they have a made a movie before that the viewer really loved, this might intrigue them more.
- 2. Inter-Titles: Inter-Titles are when the screen shows text helping to explain the narrative to create tension; this works the best for horror movies but is still input into other genres as well. Inter-titles that build tension normally say “Based on a true story” to make the viewer feel more in depth to the movie as they now want to find out what it is about. At the end of the trailer they will normally say the age rating that is required to see the movie (12A, 15 18 etc.) the name of the movie and when it is released.
