Radioshow – Assignment
I have won an internship at a local radio station. My first assignment was to produce
a short radio programme describing the extracurricular opportunities that are
available for young people.
Before I begin producing my radio programme I will have to research other audio
products to make sure that I am appropriate to take on the next task. The team at the
radio station has asked me to prepare a pitch beforehand so then I can start to create
my radio program. However, I also have to construct a report evaluating the success
of my project. Which will then allow the head of the radio station to decide whether I
am or not suitable to take on the further assignments.
The research that I conducted was that I had to look into the Nick Grimshaw case
study which was about his breakfast show. I also had to make a document explaining
about what broadcast products were. These were various different types of broadcast
products such as live radio, music radio, drama radio etc. The few of the research
that I had to carry out were the different audio formats and why they were used for. I
also had to carry out a research log which was about the Nick Grimshaw research this
was about what we had to do to achieve that part of the unit.
The broadcasts media was when we created our radio broadcast. The way we did this
was that we recorded ourselves speaking into the microphone and then we
interviewed other students. We then put all our recording onto the software ‘reason’.
What I included in my radio program was that I added jingles so it would sound
much more like an actual radio show. The structure of my radio show was really
good. This was because I think the way that I structured my program was that it went
in the right pace allowing the radio broadcast run smoothly.
My target audience was aimed at the younger students, ages between 12 and 19. This
was because majority of the listeners will still be in schools and this way I will be able
to put the radio program up on the school website where students will be able to
listen to it.
The technical requirements that I will include in my radio program was that I added
fades at the end of my recording wo then it will the audio sound like it was recorded
all at once but really it was done by editing and cutting the clips. What I also had to
with the audio was that I did a bit of mixing this meant that I had to get the right
level of noise sorted so it didn’t sound really boring or something people wouldn’t
want to listen to. The quality of the rcording that I produced was up to high standard
because the type of mic that I used was a dynamic mic which picked up all the sound
of the recorder’s voice and finally adding compression on the final piece. This was to
make the audio of the recording sound high quality and that it didn’t sound shaky or
something that is really dull.
