Questionnaire analysis
1. The results of this first
questions tells me the
majority of people into
the genre of our trailer
are males. This is not
unusual considering the
themes within the
gangster/crime genre.
This would help with the
trailer production as
having a specific
audience would make it
more appealing
however, we should also
see how it could possibly
appeal to both genders.
2. This shows the main
age group who are into
movies of this or other
genres are 14 - 18 year
olds. This could be for
many reasons as they
may have more time,
don’t have a job, have
spendable money etc.
being students means
they have more leisure
time. This presents the
main target audience
for the trailer
concerning age range
although anyone can
watch it.
3. The 30 % minority
presents they go to the
cinema regularly which
again suggests they may
fit into the students age
range whereas the other
70% go from time to
time or rarely go.
However, this may also
be because they don’t
really keep up with the
upcoming films or just
not coming across
advertisements for
certain movies that
would appeal to them.
This means our trailer
would have be appealing
so the audience
anticipate its if it were
an authentic movie.
4. Most of the results here
show the majority of
people prefer to watch
movies of the horror or
action genre. This could
make it more difficult to
apply the answers based
on the genre we’re
focusing on than having
opinions of people who
prefer to watch
gangster/ crime films.
5. From all the comments,
these results show that
the majority aren’t
influenced to watch a
certain movie because of
an actor or a director
although the minority
who are mentioned the
well-known people e.g.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Vera
Farmiga etc. If a name of
a highly known actor or
directors name was used
in the poster or
magazine cover, it could
make it appeal more to
the audience.
6. These results capture
why people liked the
trailer they mentioned
well however, again they
don’t fall into the
category of the genre
our trailer will be
although they give me
an idea of what the
majority of the audience
would want to see.
7. This was a general
question of what people
thought would make a
good trailer and these
results would help in the
production of our trailer
e.g. through the themes
which many mentioned
here, not giving away to
much / the ending. We
would also have to
decide on the
appropriate shots,
angles, mise-en-scene,
music score/background
music etc.
8. This question focuses on
the hybrid genre of our
trailer and what the
audience enjoy about it.
From those who do
enjoy films of this genre,
many said they like it
because of the plot and
if it has action/violence.
We should consider the
events in the trailer and
including suspenseful
action to attract and
intrigue an audience
effectively whilst
understanding the plot.
9. The main films
mentioned as the genre
favourites were The
Godfather and
Goodfellas. Looking at
the trailers of some of
these movies could help
in identifying certain
conventions applied to
make it appealing.
10. This question tells me
what the audience
would expect to see in a
trailer of this genre.
People here have
mentioned guns, drugs,
money, action, death,
blood, organised crime,
mafia in suits, tension
build up etc. this would
help as all these whether
they are themes, props
or mise-en-scene, these
conventions would assist
in creating an appealing
trailer of this genre.
