2. INTRODUCTION
Travelling and working are always at a tussle
with each other. If you do one, you cannot do
the other and moreover, if you do decide not to
do one and concentrate on the other, it will just
keep pricking you at the back of your mind.
How do we solve this paradox? How do we
even begin to make it sound possible? The
answer is right here, you can! Choose to drop
the suits and gear up for an adventure of a
lifetime as we give you ways you can earn while
you travel!
QUOTE
"The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today."
H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
You are not sure what to do with your
life, not sure which path to take, but you do know
you want to travel. You want to get out there and
experience everything possible. Immerse yourself
in other cultures, enjoy art & nature and meet new
people. But when it comes down to it, down to
making a decision, to figuring it out, you would
find yourself hitting a wall. The usual issues come
up – no money, no travel buddies, not knowing
where to go, how to even begin!
But before we get into that, let us canvass
the detailed description about making a career out
of travelling. A little disclaimer: if all travelling
jobs were easy, everyone would be doing this.
Many of these professions require passion,
specialized training, time commitment, and talent.
For those that don’t, the pay just isn’t great. There
is no magic way to instantly make lots of money
travelling. The truth about becoming location
independent is that it takes years of hard work
and sacrifice behind the scenes. Something too
many people conveniently ignore.

3. CRUCIAL STEPS
INVOLVED
THINK ABOUT WHAT
YOU WANT?
1
GET READY TO BE
AMAZED!
b y W a r r e n B u f f e t
There comes a time when you ought to start doing
what you want. Take a job that you love. You will jump
out of bed in the morning. I think you are out of your
mind if you keep taking jobs that you don’t like because
you think it will look good on your resume. Isn’t that a
little like saving up sex for your old age?

4. The first thing you need to do is ask yourself some key
questions:
Why do you want to travel?
What are you hoping to get out of a big trip?
There’s no right answer here. Maybe there’s a
language you’ve been dying to learn, or a burning question
you’re trying to solve. Perhaps there is a list of places that
you’ve always wanted to visit. Maybe you’re really into
adventure sports or big city culture. The world is an enormous
place and just setting out to see it is kind of a vague and
unobtainable goal. By figuring out what you’re actually looking
for you can narrow down your list of options and start to think in
realistic terms.
THINK ABOUT WHAT
YOU WANT?
5. THINK ABOUT WHAT
YOU WANT?
The second step is a reality check of sorts. You
need to evaluate your budget and resources to determine
what you can actually pursue. First think about the restraints
of money and time. How much of either are you willing to
invest in this project? Are you thinking about a month long
experience or a year? Depending on how long and where you
are going you will have to budget accordingly.
Secondly, consider all of the programs and other
resources available to you. There are a plethora of volunteer
organizations, study abroad options and work visas that you
can take advantage of. Also consider friends and family you
may have strewn around the world. Having somewhere to
stay and some one to show you around is an excellent
motivation to go somewhere. At this point you should have a
fairly good sketch of what you actually want your trip to look
like. You don’t necessarily need actual dates or itineraries,
but a basic outline of what you intend to do (teach English in
Spain, backpack through India, or travel overland through
Africa).
CONSIDER THE RESOURCES
AVAILABLE TO YOU?
6. THINK ABOUT WHAT
YOU WANT?
SKETCH OUT A POA - MAKE IT
HAPPEN
Once you’ve got a pretty good idea of where you
want to go and what you want to do, the last step is creating
a to-do list. This will be your plan of the actual concrete steps
you need to take before you can leave. Stuff like: saving
money, applying for visas, buying plane tickets and buying
equipment. It might also include things like graduating from
school, telling your family and looking for a new job.
7. Types of Travel jobs
Expat Jobs Digital Nomad
Explorer Jobs
Expat stands for
expatriate,
It means while you
are a citizen of one
country, you choose
to live/work in a
foreign country.
Expat jobs are only
related to travel in a
way that you are
working in a
different country
from your own.
You may live in that
country for months
or years at a time, so
you exactly aren't
nomadic.
You may be an
English teacher, a
nanny, etc
Digital Nomads work
from their computers.
This makes them
location independent.
As long as they have
access to the internet,
they can earn a living.
Digital Nomads are
free to travel at will,
working from coffee
shops or hotels.
Blogging falls under
this category, so also
describes my lifestyle.
You may have an
online business,
freelancer writing
etc.
Explorer jobs do
work that i'll call
"alternate" travel
jobs.
The type of work
that may not require
a computer, but a
more hands on
approach.
Access to the
internet or owning a
computer aren't
mandatory
requirements.
Let's say musicians,
artists or manual
labour fall under this
category.
8. The latter examples of travel
jobs encompass one or more of these
categories. If you crave the safety of a
permanent job, but also want to live in a
different country, then working abroad
in a regular full time type position might
be best. Keep in mind, not all of these
jobs are suitable for everyone. If you
have a university degree, you might not
be as willing to pick strawberries on a
farm as someone else might be. Or
maybe you are, I won’t judge. We all
have different backgrounds, skills and
comfort levels.
If you make money travelling, it means that
you can travel indefinitely. Making money
while you travel means you don’t have to
stick to a strict budget because money is
always flowing in. It also means you’re free
to roam the planet at will without being
stuck working abroad at a teaching job or
other full-time gig. It’s not all roses and milk
tea, though. You have to work hard, and you
have to, well, work. That itself can be
challenging when everyone else around you
is on holiday and you’re cooped up in your
hotel room strapped to your laptop. But you
know what? On days when you will be stuck
instead working for 8 or 10 or 14 hours, you
will still get to take a break, have lunch, and
walk outside and relax on the beach. And
you will marvel at thoughts like “holy crap!
I’m in Calanguate Beach, Goa right now!”
And thoughts like that make the long hours
more than worth it

PROSPECTIVE CAREERS
So, now coming to the big question of how to
travel and make a career out of it?
Your skills are needed to
make a better tomorrow
Make things better while
travelling into newer
cultures
Don’t expect a five star
treatment.
Do it only if your care is all
you have to give because you
are doing it at your free will
Make sure, the cause
you pick is something
you truly believe in and
you are willing to give
whatever it takes to
make things better
Lot of countries conduct
business in their local
language
You can teach English
even at a professional
level with basic
knowledge
Make sure that your
knowledge of English is
sufficient, you don’t want
to mumble when a child
asks you the plural of
‘antennae’
Brush up on the dialect
of English and get a
cognizance as to what
their basic level of
understanding the
language is
Just click, take awesome
photographs and sell them
on websites
If you are good at
understanding the dials and
have a creative eye, then this
job is for you
Commonplace photographs
wont take you a long way
You have to be willing to go
that extra mile and capture the
moment of glory
Make sure you have hi-
definition camera
Take good quality photos
and state your usage terms
before hand
If your work doesn’t confine
you to a desk, then try this
option
Its risk free and you wont have
to step out of your comfort
zone
Don’t do this if your employer
is unclear of the hours you
put in
If there is a gap expectation,
then either you will be
working full slay or making no
money
Make sure the
destination has full
resources for your work

So, now coming to the big question of how to
travel and make a career out of it?
There is a huge market for
locally grown and handmade
products
You can buy in bulk and sell it
online from the comfort of
your home
The shelf life has to be
considered
You don’t want to open your
bag in front of a potential
customer and find that the
product is spoiled
Check the authenticity
of the products and get
the best price
When you have the
necessary seamanship
skills, you are good to go
Culinary, mechanical or
navigational abilities are
always an added bonus
Seasickness is not the
best quality
No notable skills to boost
about is a big no-no
Make sure you are
physically sound to take
voyages
Be sure to find your way
ahead and back
You usually get lodging and
boarding at the expense of
the owner of the farm and
it’s a great way to interact
with the locals
If you don’t like your hands
dirty or mucking through dirt,
then it’s a no brainer that you
shouldn’t opt for this
Research before hand that
the organization is open to
volunteers when you visit
Become a travel buddy in the
country of your choice
Perfect for first time travelers
for whom travelling in a
strange land can be quite
daunting
Don’t opt for this if you are
not good at people skills
Make sure of your skills
and your location

So, now coming to the big question of how to
travel and make a career out of it?
Writing is one of your
strengths
There are many travel
websites who will pay you for
writing blogs
The shelf life has to be
considered
You don’t want to open your
bag in front of a potential
customer and find that the
product is spoiled
Pick one niche area like
‘travelling cheap’,
‘adventure travel’ and
start writing in order to
build a more loyal fan
base of audience
Try and barter an
exchange with owner
about being employed
there itself
You will most likely get
free lodging
It is slave labour like
work and stay for free
Do not exchange money,
or you could get trouble
into the visa authorities
over working visas
If there’s a mountainous
amount of work with no
free time then you have
just earned a sore deal
Make your terms of
employment clear from
the start
If you know mixology skills,
then this is a pretty good
deal to earn some extra cash
You shouldn’t have issues
going around the place and
pouring coffees
Major ones require work
permit
So either get one or make
it clear that you are willing
to work around it
If you have art and excel at
it, then why not make buck
out of it? Dancing, guitar,
painting or sketching, every
country could do with a
little bit of art in the public
arena!
Guarantee that performers
are allowed in the public area,
spending the night in jail is
not the bets utilization of
time, is it?
Take cues from other
performers about the
kind of audience in the
region
Novelty is always
appreciated
13. RESOURCES
Its tough work, but actually realizing your dream is a great motivation! It’s easier
than you think! You can cut your cost on most of the expenses using the websites
I’ve listed below. Moreover, it enables you to meet and connect with different
people!
Stay with Locals and Make Travel Friends - Couchsurfing is a website that lets you stay in other
(host) people’s houses for free in exchange for travel stories and good conversations! And you
can play the host when you’re back home.
WWOOF India - WWOOF is a circle of hosts who own organic farms and the like who are
looking for helpers to work in their farms in exchange for food and accommodation. Not to
mention the things you get to learn there!
Workaway.info - The site for cultural exchange. Workaway has a similar concept like WWOOF
but is not just restricted to farming. You can find a variety of jobs there ranging from teaching
school kids to weaving baskets!
If I were you and I wanted to see the world, but didn’t know how I could afford it,
I’d look into any of these websites. Here are five websites to help you make money
travelling without committing to a “regular” job.
Upwork.com - Companies and small businesses post jobs for everything from copy-writing to
web design to tutoring services. Freelancers then compete for said jobs by creating and
submitting job proposals.
Fiverr.com - Check out the site and see who the high rollers are, look at who’s making the most
money and how.
Takelessons.com - TakeLessons is a site for teachers and students. I use those terms loosely. If
you have something to teach, you can connect with someone who wants to learn it.
Clarity.fm - This site is sort of like Fiverr meets Take Lessons. It’s more business-focused, so if
you have a background in online marketing, design, or technology, this is totally your bag.
