2. An Introduction To The Movie
• The Movie ‘Sarfarosh’ meaning - martyr produced and directed By John Mathew Mathan
was released in 1999 .
• The Movie dealt with the fight of an Indian police officer to stop cross-border terrorism.
• The Movie was released at the time of Kargil Conflict when tensions between India and
Pakistan were high.
• The Movie made on patriotic line got wide critical acclaim and did exceptionally well at
Box Office where it was declared a above average grosser.
• The movie had the tagline ‘Sarfarosh- A reason to live‘ and basic idea underlying the
movie was that every individual must have a goal or a reason to live with.
•The Story begins with the Title song ‘Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaaye‘ which shows the chain of
supply for smuggle of arms from across the border.
•Through the song, the movie sends message to underworld people that those who run
away from law & resort to violence are those who are cowards & do not have the courage to
speak the truth.
3. The Plot of the Movie
• The movie shows Pakistani army & its intelligence agency, ISI as the chief conspirator for a
promoting all anti national activities & smuggling arms to rebels in India.
• The main villain of the movie is Gulfam Hassan , a Pakistani ghazal singer who born in
India later migrated to Pakistan and is the chief handler and distributor of arms &
ammunition.
• The smuggling of arms is done via Pakistan border through trained camels which carry
arms & ammunition from across the border.
• Other main characters in the movie are
1. Mirchi Seth : A person who deals with distribution of arms through his trucks to
across the country.
2. Haji Seth : A person who deals with distribution of arms and smuggling across bars in
Mumbai.
3. Veeran : A tribal leader who has provoked and raised an army of tribesman against
the state .
4. Sultan : An arms handler and a terrorist who works as a facilitator for criminals in
Mumbai

• Extraverted(E) or Introverted(I) : During his stint as an IPS officer
Aamir Khan is very much extravert(E) and vocal in expressing his
opinions and Interacting with his subordinates .On the other
hand, he used to be more Introvert(I) in his college days this is
shown by his reluctance to express his love. But, overall, he remains
a quiet person(I) in his personal life.
• Sensing(S) versus Intuitive (N) :-As a sensing person(S), ACP Rathore
is practical while dealing with criminals and when it comes to
ensure seriousness and discipline in his department. As an
Intuitive(I) person, he relies on his instinct and assumption to decide
his immediate course of action. But as a whole, he remains a
Intuitive(N) person most of the time in the course of action.

• Thinking(T) versus Feeling(F) :- As a thinking(T) person, ACP Rathore
uses logic & reason to lookout for hideout of criminals, guessing
their next course of action. Also he tries to build a framework for
the plan of action against a criminal. He also shows his feeling once
while dealing with a relative of a criminal. But, In Overall terms he
remains a Thinking (T) Person.
• Judging (J) versus Perceiving(Spontaneous) Person :-As a judging
person(J), Aamir Khan as ACP Rathore wanted his life to be ordered
and structured. This is shown by his reaction to tragedies in his
personal life due to death of his brother. As a perceiving(P) person
he does not mind changes to his daily schedule due to unplanned
events & is spontaneous in his reaction. In overall terms, he is a
Perceiving (P)person.

CONCUSLION :- Therefore we come to the conclusion that Aamir Khan
as ACP RATHORE is a INTP (Introvert ,Intuitive ,Thinking & Perceiving)
Person.
Therefore we come to the conclusion that Aamir Khan as ACP Rathore
in the Movie is a Good Organizer, Leader , Goal Oriented & Strict but at
the same time practical & caring in his approach. Such people are
likely to be highly successful in govt. jobs related to public affairs such
as police.
7. BIG FIVE MODEL
• Extraversion :– Comfort level with relationships. Aamir Khan as ACP Rathore was
low on these features. He was less gregarious and sociable.
•Agreeableness :-High on agreeableness. We can say this on the basis of his
discussion with his superiors & advice given by subordinates.
•Conscientiousness :- High on conscientiousness. Aamir Khan as ACP Rathore was
reliable , organized an dependable.
•Emotional Stability :- The ability to withstand stress. We rank ACP Rathore very
high on this parameters.
•Openness to experience :- His willingness to travel to places like Wahid ,a border
area in Rajasthan with his team also to conduct raids on hideouts with his team
shows his openness to experience.
8. Other Management Concepts Underlying
the Movie
The basic management concept underlying in the movie is in terms
of leadership. The leadership type followed by hero of the movie
is “Leadership By Example”.
The lead actor joins the police force with the tag line of the movie
‘A Reason To Live’. After joining the Police force he sets an example
for his sub-ordinates despite being younger with his dedication to
work, discipline & ethics.
9. Other Management Concepts
Underlying the Movie
• The other management lesson that we get is to manage best with
the given resources. As ACP Rathore, Aamir Khan had to face other
corrupt police officers ,a complacent staff and a nexus of corrupt
police officers and criminals. But he came out a winner because of
being able to balance using both authority & being tactful.
• Other hurdles which the lead actor of the film had to face were
personal hurdles knowing and overcoming the fact that his idol
singer Gulfam Hassan was a terrorist mastermind himself.
10. Interference Of Power & Politics
• In his stint as investigating officer in the Mumbai crime branch, Aamir
Khan as ACP Rathore had to face interference of power & politics many
times.
• His senior did not allow him to work with one of the police
office, Inspector Salim Whom he did not consider trustworthy. He solved
this problem by going out of the way and asking him personally for his
help.
• Just before leaving for the final raid in a border are in Rajasthan ,he got
his transfer orders due to political reasons. He solved this problem by
taking his senior into confidence .
•While dealing with an ISI officer who was officially a diplomat, Aamir
Khan as ACP Rathore got him killed by Naseeruddin Shah as Gulfam
Hassan and managed to plant evidence against him
•The movie in totality follows Management By Objectives (MBO) model to
overcome Interference of power & politics.
