3. FUNCTIONS
He represents the government as a whole and sees
to it that all laws are enforced by the officials and
employees of his department. Other functions are
the executive department, bureau and office or
interfere with the discretion of its officials. Corollary
to the power of control, the President also has the
duty of supervising the enforcement of laws for the
maintenance of general peace and public order.
Thus, he is granted administrative power over
bureaus and offices under his control to enable him
to discharge his duties effectively. The President
exercises general supervision over all local
government units and is also the Commander-in-
Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
4. TERM OF OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
AND VICE-PRESIDENT
The President and Vice-President
enjoy the security of tenure. Their term
of office is six (6) years “which shall
begin at noon on the 30th day of June
following the day of the election and
shall end at noon of the same date (6)
years thereafter”
The President-elect and Vice-
President –elect shall assume their
office at the beginning of their term.
5. QUALIFICATION OF PRESIDENT &
VICE-PRESIDENT
He is a natural-born citizen of the Philippines;
He is a registered voters;
He is able to read and write;
He is at least forty (40) years of age on the day of
the election (not proclamation or assumption of
office) For president; and
He is a resident of the Philippines for at least (10)
years immediately preceding such election
6. POWER OF THE PRESIDENT
Implements laws of the country
Issue executive orders
Suggest bills to be passed by congress
Veto any bill passed by congress
Monitor the foreign policies of the country
Nominate and appoint the heads of the executive
department and offices of the armed forces of the
Philippines
May grant pardon, amnesty or reduce the sentence
of those convicted on the final judgment of the
supreme court.
