he forecast was spot on. The day was
bright and the heat was sweltering
but the stunning parade of yachts
meant that only the air was still
for the glitz and glamour of the
Singapore Yacht Show 2016 – the ‘Monaco of the
East’ – was at its best..
The standout “stars” of the show had to be the
mega yachts. And the 50-metre-long Sensation
and the 43-metre-long Triple 8 (built by Royal
Denship), left visitors with plenty to gaze at. Size
was certainly not all that mattered as there was
plenty of activity in the large and medium sized
yacht segment as well.
Hong Seh Marine
“This year, our enquiries for yacht purchase at the
show were divided 50/50, locally and also from
the region,” said Edward Tan, Executive Director
of Hong Seh Motors. “For our yachts, we like to
promote a great lifestyle that you can share with
family and friends. We provide an end-to-end
service which include insurance, licensing, the
registration of the yacht as well as pretty much
whatever the customers need,” he explained.
“It really is all about a holistic lifestyle. We take
care of our yacht owners, we bring them out and
they experience the best we have to offer. On the
yacht, people become a part of each other’s lives
without the many digital distractions of today
– they sign up for an interactively immersed
lifestyle – and I think that this keeps our
owners and members grounded in the Hong Seh
lifestyle,” he added.
Among the brands represented by Hong Seh
Marine is Italian boat builder Cranchi. Following
the launch and debut of the new 43 Eco Trawler
Long Distance at the Singapore Yacht Show,
Stefano Luraschi, sales and marketing manager
for Cranchi commented: “our yacht owners in
Singapore are now able to enjoy luxury boating at
its finest, and at a reasonable price too.”
“The Cranchi Eco Trawler 43 is special, as
the name implies it can keep on the waters
longer with less fuel consumed,” he shared.
Besides being able to go the distance with eco-
friendly features, the trawler’s fit and finish are
expectedly, exceptional. With the order books
already open for this darling, all it takes is
probably a ‘spin’ to entice potential buyers to
want to have this boat in their own dock.
Another eye catcher is the Riva 88 Florida. This
indulgent 26-metre yacht features a convertible
top. Measuring 26.7-metres in overall length,
it can comfortably accommodate 20 on board.
Luxurious and brilliantly engineered. The
interior of the yacht is decorated with plenty of
elm wood trim and other elements that furnishes
the interior such as its lacquered surfaces, LED
ceiling lights, leather and stainless steel. The
yacht can be propelled up to speeds of 38.5
knots, cruise at 34 knots and wander around for
up to 340 nautical miles. A more powerful engine
option pushes top speed to over 40 knots with a
325 nautical miles range.
Completing the wolf-gang trio at the show, is the
Ferretti 720. A modern and aggressively style
deck motor yacht that has married form and
functionality. The first of its ‘large yacht’ range,
it has many large yacht features, including a
four cabin layout with four en-suite bathrooms, a
large saloon and separate dining area, a side door
leading to a concealed galley with hidden crew

quarters that can be accessed from the cockpit
and professional bridge deck helm. While her
exterior lines are sleek, she still has all that room
to play host and entertain your many guests.
The hallmarks of the 720 are the twin anchors
and wide side decks for safety. Rated CE Design
category ‘A’ for unlimited ocean cruising, she is
good for cruising at 30 knots as well as capable
of cruising at top speeds of 34 knots.
The 720 is powered by “twin generators, full
Raymarine electronics, bow and stern thrusters,
with a tender crane for ‘toys’ on the flybridge.
Other offerings from Hong Seh Marine include
the Ferretti 750, a step up and evolution of the
720, the Pershing 70, an Everglades 35C’C and a
new line of Boston Whalers.
Princess Yachts
Another factor to considering when mastering
the waters is in the craftsmanship. With
craftsmanship, comes technology and what better
to consider than the engineering pedigree of the
Princess Yachts boats.
Making its debut at the yacht show is the
Princess 75 motor yacht. The family-sized
24-metre-long yacht can weather a storm while
sheltering its occupants in luxury. The yacht
features a modified deep V-hull which makes
the cruiser stable on water and ensures optimal
comfort for yourself and guests. The yacht is
available with either a choice of Twin Caterpillar
C32 A engines which can reach a speed of 34
knots or the Twin MAN V12 1800 engines which
can let the pilot clock up to to 36 knots.
Sean Stratton, General Manager for Princess
Yachts Asia said: “I feel that all boats have a
personality – and the Princess 75 definitely
has a ‘homely’ feel to it.” The interior is
elegant and uses exquisite fabrics – such as
designer furniture from Hermes, Dedar Milano
and Zimmer+Rohde. It has an expansive
environment highlighted through the use of
extended window lines, a dedicated staircase to
the master cabin, an en suite as well as a 46”
television with entertainment system. We’re
pretty sure homely has been played down by
Stratton for the the yacht’s beautiful set-up for
entertaining friends and family alike is one
that’ll surely impress.
To commemorate their 50th anniversary the
british luxury yacht manufacturer has also
restored the original Project 31@50 cruiser. It
made is Asia Pacific debut here at the Singapore
Yacht Show and will be auctioned for charity
following the world tour.
Sunreef Yachts
If you are familiar with the basics of sailing
and want to move up to a catamaran for the
experience of living aboard a twin hull, it would
be safe to say that Sunreef Yachts can probably
give you a tip or two.
Showcased this year at the show is Eagle Wings,
a 21-metre yacht with a beautiful living space of
nearly 300 sqm. The yacht is the first in a new
range of luxury sailing catamarans and has a
superstructure of a large main room surrounded
with clear ceiling glass. The seamless space
opens onto the cockpit and gives direct access
to the deck through sliding doors on the sides of
the yacht. Great views on the eye and panoramic
senses on the lounge and dining area. According
to the builder, there is “a growing demand for
more personalised, comfortable and technically
advanced units”.
“OUR YACHT OWNERS IN SINGAPORE ARE
NOW ABLE TO ENJOY LUXURY BOATING
AT ITS FINEST, AND AT A REASONABLE
PRICE TOO.”
