These charts show the percentage of magazines read by Japanese and American teenagers and
the differences between American and Japanese teenagers. Fashion magazines are the most
popular and comics are the least popular magazines in America. 48% of teenagers read fashion
magazines but only 6% read comics. About 20% read music and sports magazines. In Japan the
most popular magazines are comics, then fashion and music, and least popular are sports
magazines. Almost half of Japanese teenagers read comics, about 20% read music and fashion
magazines and only 9% read sports magazines. Comics are a lot more popular in Japan than in
the USA, but fashion magazines are more than two times more popular in America than in
Japan.

America are fashion magazines, but in Japan, the most popular magazines are comics. 47% of
teenagers read comics in Japan, and 48% read fashion magazines in America. Comics are the
least popular magazines in America, but in Japan sports magazines are. Only 9% of Japanese
teenagers read sports magazines and only 6% of American students read comics. Japanese and
American teenagers like different magazine genres but about 20% of teenagers in both countries
like music magazines.
