Kristine presents a couponing basics class covering several topics:
- Plan meals and shopping around sales, not just your needs. Stock up on sale items you'll use.
- "Extreme Couponing" shows are staged. Most savings come from planning, not extreme deals.
- Learn about stockpiling vs hoarding, different coupon types, organization, store policies, matchups, and smartphone apps to maximize savings. With practice, many brand name items can be purchased very cheaply or free through couponing.
2. Change How You Buy
• Hmmm….
• Buy things when they
are on sale, not when
you need them
• Stock up on items you
know you will use
• Plan meals around
what is on sale
• Did I mention, plan??

6. Stockpiling Vs. Hoarding
Stockpiling
• Goal is to use coupons
on sale items and stock
up during that time.
• How many people are in
my family?
• How much of this product
does my family go
through?
• How much space do I
have to totally commit to
stockpiling?
Hoarding
• Goal is to get as many
products as you can
regardless if you need
them or not.
• You have tons of
something that you do not
need but you continue to
accumulate more.

Wording
• Limit 1 Coupon Per Transaction
Per transaction = Per Checkout at
register
Limit 1 Coupon Per Purchase
This just means PER ITEM
34. Understanding Coupon
Wording
• Limit of 4 like coupons in the same
transaction
This means you can only purchase and use
up to 4 of the same coupon in one
transaction. If you plan to purchase more
than 4 you will have to make two separate
transactions.
35. Understanding Coupon
Wording
• X dollars off of X
items / multiple
items
$3.00 off any (2)
Clearasil Products
As long as you buy in
multiples of 2, you
may use multiple
coupons
38. Plan With Coupons
Rules of Thumb:
You cannot stack manufacturer coupons anywhere
Many stores will not allow a coupon on the Free item in a
BOGO sale
All stores have register line limits, keep it to a reasonable
number of items per transaction or break the transaction
up into multiple transactions.
Some stores have limits on the number of coupons in a
transaction. Don’t be afraid to break up your purchases
into smaller transactions to stay within the store’s
coupon policy.
Essentially: KNOW YOUR STORE’S
POLICY
39. How Many Coupons Can I
Use?
• “Stacking” is using multiple coupons on one item
• Only ONE of each of the following is allowed:
Manufacturer’s Coupon
Store Coupon
Rebate (MIR)
• These can be combined:
Smartphone app (such as Ibotta, Shopkick)
Credit Card Rewards
Additional Store Reward Program (Such as
