Personal Narrative: Lesson Learned
Lesson Learned
Where do I go when I don't know where to start? How can I enlighten you the reader, about my
journey through the dark? I guess I'll start by telling you about myself. I have gained a lot of
wisdom in 23 years of my life, but I've never really shared my life story with anyone until now. Do I
start with my failing moments, or do I start with my most up–rising moments? What about my
relationship with my mother or the relationship with my fiance and kids? I don't want to make this
a regular story about my best birthday celebration or the first car I bought, I want to tell you about
the grittiness of my life. I don't see myself as an average human, maybe it's my zodiac sign
Aquarius that makes me overthink about myself as a person. I'd like to tell you about my family. To
start off with, I'm a young Hispanic man raised by a single mother of two boys who grew up in a
decent environment. When I mean decent, I mean that we weren't rich nor were we...show more

I needed to think outside the box and realize what is important in life is making the right choices.
Making good choices opens my life up to opportunities such as becoming an engineer. Until I get my
high school diploma from YouthBuild, my opportunities to make money are limited. I may be
poor in material items, but I'm rich in my mind and heart. YouthBuild is also going to help me
learn the construction trade, which will help me earn an income and pay for college. My Mom is
very happy with my choices and she is looking forward to me obtaining my high school diploma.
She is going to throw my a party when I complete the YouthBuild program. So what I've learned, it
that it doesn't matter what Zodiac sign I am, what matters is that I am moving forward with my
life. My Mom is a role model for me and I hope after receiving my high school diploma and college
degree that my daughters will consider me a role model

Life Lessons Learned
What's a lesson you have learned in your life? Well, you have probably learned more than one
lesson in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that
Jesus is the only perfect person, and that I shouldn't feel like I am lacking perfection, because it
isn't possible. I can still strive for it, but I won't get all the way there. Some people may find that
discouraging, but I find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will know
that I almost did something impossible. Other people might see that I'm saying that they will fail,
and they will. The truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn't lie about this, and
you just need to accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Bible has taught me
many things. One of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, "As for God, his way is perfect; the
LORD'S word is flawless; he shields all that take refuge in him." I had a bad day, and opened to a
random verse, and found this. One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided to
take my Bible to school to read after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of the
day. It was a little bit after 10 o'clock, and Mr. Porter had given us a break. I was by myself sitting
in the grass near the backstop on the west side of the field. I was having a bad day, being told I
was worthless, so I took my Bible outside and opened my Bible to a random place and started
reading. I smelled the grass and felt it under me. The warm May air hugged me like a comforting
parent. The grass was slightly wet and the book was heavy in my my hands, the design on the
front cover was cool under my fingertips. My fuzzy jacket and sweatpants against my waist and
legs. I heard the kids playing around me and the wind whistling through my ears. The pages are
thin in my hands as I open to a random place and start reading, seeing only the words. I hear a
whistle blown by Mr. Porter, and stand up, feeling the familiar tingle when my legs have fallen
asleep.
Have you ever gone to summer camp? Well, if you haven't, I would suggest it. It is a few in a
lifetime chance, and it can change your life. I went to a christian summer camp at

Examples Of Lesson Learned In Ww1
Based on World War 1, there's a many lesson learned that a country or people can take as guidance
and example in the future for a better life. In the WW1 we can see many people suffered and also
struggle to live because of the war that very greater and brutal, each country vying for control of
the colony and want to be a superpower without considering the impact on people in their own
country. Lessons learned include the positive and negative that can be used as example and guide
to all nations and to become better leaders for own country. Lesson learned in the First World War
such as eager to fight. In the First World War we can see that many soldier fight it out for their
country and willing to sacrifice for their country. This spirit eager...show more content...
Other lesson learned such as sacrifice of soldiers in the First World War. The soldiers struggle to
fight in trenches. Started from 1914 to 1918 throughout the war, over millions of soldier fought
for their country and died along a front hundreds of miles long in trenches which rarely move
backwards or forwards by more than a few hundred yards at a time. The life in trenches is very
dangerous, for as well as the clearly dangers during an attack, the front lines in trenches meant
constant exposure to surprise attack, grenade, sniping, shelling and gas attack or trench raid. The
soldier died not only by the bullets of machine gun, rifles, sniper or grenade but gas and shells that
scared the men most. The German led in gas development, there's many type of gas that very
stronger and dangerous that can easily killed people who struck with the gas. Mustard gas, the
one of dangerous gas a form of ethylene was designed to disable rather than kill. The mustard gas
if seen it looked like dark sherry and smell like onion and it will attacked the skin and eyes if struck
with that gas, it will causing temporary blindness, blistering skin, severe headaches, fever and cause
pneumonia and also will destroy lungs, genital and skin effect of that

There are so many events that change one's life that it is rather difficult to try and decipher which
of those events are most important. Each event changes a different aspect of your life, molding
how one's personality turns out. One of these events occurred when I was about twelve years old
and I attempted to steal from a Six Flags amusement park. My reasoning for stealing wasn't that I
didn't have the money, or even that I wanted what I stole all that badly, it was that all of my friends
had stolen something earlier that day and didn't get caught. After getting caught I resolved, because
the consequences are just not worth it, never to steal or give into peer pressure again.
It all began when a couple of friends...show more content...
Then out of nowhere, the ride releases and starts roaring around the track. As always the ride ended
far too soon and we set off for the next ride, "Twister Two."
On the way to "Twister Two" one of my friends suddenly had a candy bar in his possession. When
he was asked how he got it, he simply replied, "I stole it." It was so amazing to me that he could
do that, and act as if it was no big deal. To me stealing would be a thing that needed to be planned
and executed, but to him it was just another place that he ripped off. He explained that it is easy
to do, "you just grab what you want, wait 'til no one's looking, and then walk out." This is when I
first began pondering the idea of stealing. I had never stole before because I knew it was against
my morals, but there was that rebel in me that wanted to try it. He, on the other hand, had probably
stolen so many times that he could do it with his eyes closed, and he had never been caught. Lucky
him.
While in line for the next ride, I began debating whether or not I should try to steal something
before the end of the day. That thought was immediately shook of by the rattle of the roller
coaster that we were standing under. It always looked so unstable, with the entire thing made of
wood instead of metal, and the whole track would wobble and click when the cart flew by. That
was another ride that we would always need to get to early because the line would grow to

My Leadership Lessons Learned
Upon finishing this course, I have learned an important lesson to be a manager and a leader of my
own life to lead others successfully. First, I have learned to manage and align my actions with my
core values because that will bring the satisfaction and fulfillment to what I do; this approach will
reflect positively on my work ethics and standard of care toward patients and coworkers. The
second lesson I have attained is to manage life boundaries intelligently and integrate my work and
my life successfully; which was clearly stated in module one upon discussing leadership and
management in correlation to problem–solving, decision making, and critical thinking. The third
lesson I have liberated as a manager I have to embrace changes courageously and adapt to any
situation that is not in my comfort zone; module two emphasizes that changes will fulfill the
management role; yet a good leader is always perceptive and open to changes and view it as an
opportunity for growth and development....show more content...
I have learned that a good leader was not born with a great capacity to lead others yet, he/she has
persistence, discipline, passion, and courage to follow what is best for self and others. This course
helps me to grow deeper and stronger in many aspects such as communication, leadership, advocacy,
professional attitude, technology utilization, and viewing the role of manager form different
perspective. The emphasis on understanding the fact that the success of any organization is highly
focused on the success of its leader/manager. This has made me realize how important for the nurse
manager to possess a unique qualification such as effective communication, critical thinking, team
builder, advance stress management, integrated knowledge, and a leader for continuous

The Lesson I Learned My Lesson
Here is a time where I've learned my lesson. I was like a mini Dora the Explorer except, I was a brat.
I was so picky, such a princess, I got myself in trouble every day, I'd make everyone so stressed
out. I was your worst nightmare disguised as Dora the Explorer. I usually would like things my
way, and my way only. I felt if I was the who was always right and I was the smartmouth. I was the
definition of a brat. So, let me give background on how annoying I was. Sometimes I'd bark. I had
this habit of barking under furniture. For example, let's take a dining table, a fort, chairs, and
even in cabinets. It was a very odd habit but it was how I got attention and showed my anger. I
would bark as loud as my voice can roar. And every single time I did, was every single time I got
hung upside down and swung. My brother was in charge of teaching me lessons, and lessons I
didn't want to receive. Since I did actions he didn't want me to do and that I didn't like, he did the
same. And he would do this everyday because I would constantly irritate him. It seemed as if I
could never care anymore, because I actually had no idea why he would teach me lessons. Like I
said, I felt if I was always right and things had to go my way. If they didn't I'd throw temper
tantrums. It was bad. I would throw things. I would hurt myself, try to hurt the opposing person
who disagreed with my way. I use to barely eat, it was unhealthy. I usually ate an orange and a bag
of chips a day. I was force fed

Lessons Learnt in Project Management
Introduction
Lessons learned in Project Management
In good project management, it is very important that the project manager with the help of the
project team capture and document for historical reference the experiences encountered during the
course of carrying out a project. These experiences whether positive or negative or from past or
present projects, are very vital to process maturity and improvement and are hence incorporated into
future project management procedures.[6] This idea of project management via lessons learned/ past
experience tool is very vital to the success of a company or organisation with regards to the
performance of present and most importantly future projects. This is because it helps many project
managers across...show more content...
This is due to the fact that corporate memories are often very short and an individual's memory can
be highly selective. Hence, the major cornerstones of events within a project can be focused upon,
but the underlying reasons for these events completely forgotten. Therefore a formal collection of
lessons learnt in the course of a project, by the project manager and the project team, is a vital
activity in administrative closure.[9]
Goals Of A Lessons Learned Process
The project manager and project team's goals, when carrying out lessons learnt sessions, at the end
of a project, include ensuring that the outcome is knowledge sharing and positive impact on future
projects. The goal should also be to create a positive environment which is blame free and
participants can be honest about the setbacks encountered in the course of the project. The project
review process should also aim at balancing the amount of precious people–time utilised, to the
returns of this time investment on project team and organisation as a whole. This process should
also have a goal of being able to set out pliable tools and methods for various project teams sizes to
effectively analyse project occurrences and hence implement a cause of action for

In the essays that we have read this semester, the authors were effective in helping their readers to
learn something from the authors various subject matters, which could be used in the readers' own
lives. I have chosen four essays that I have read this term from which I have learned from. The four
essays I decided on are: "Shooting an Elephant" by George Orwell, "Sex, Lies, and Conversation" by
Deborah Tannen, "What Really Scares Us" by David Ropeik, and "Delusions of Grandeur" by Henry
Louis Gates, Jr. In George Orwell's "Shooting an Elephant" Orwell writes of his experience in British

Women don't mind another point of view as long as it is in the form of a suggestion or inquiry
rather than as a direct challenge. All these differences in this essay begin to clarify why men and
women have such different expectations of communication. Tannen suggests, once men and women
understand these differences, improvement in communication will come naturally. In the future one
can use the information in this essay to recognize his or her differences when it comes to
conversation and learn to alter their behavior to improve communication with their partner, rather
than right and wrong which can lead to breaking up or divorce. In David Ropeik's "What Really
Scares Us", Ropeik argues that Humans perceive risk through emotions rather than reasoning even
though we obtain a highly advanced brain which gives us the power to reason. Ropeik says that the
reason humans perceive risk emotionally before reasoning is because our brains are biologically
built to fear first and think second. The brain has two parts that are built mainly for reasoning and
emotion. One of these parts is called the prefrontal cortex, behind your forehead, which is the area
where we do a lot of our reasoning and thinking. The other part, which is the brain's key emotion
center, is the amygdala. Because of the way the brain is built, information gets to the amygdale first
before getting to the prefrontal cortex. In that case a person would react

What I Have Learned Essay
What I Have Learned
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in
this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe
that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to
also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I
could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted
anymore.
I also feel that maturing counts as learning for me because growing up I was continuously being
called immature. For me, maturing counts as learning because I find myself doing things I never

I feel that I have to get rid of bad habits in order to make room for better habits that I need for
everyday life. I am learning better habits everyday. Even though I did bad on my first exam I feel
that counted as learning for me because now I know what it takes for me to receive a high grade on
any test I take.
The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to
learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value
of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I
took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My
attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted.
In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating
me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning
new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that
I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually
yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. Every assignment I have done in college is
teaching me something new. I think I feel this way because I am maturing and I now view learning
differently than I did

one blanket that the jailor had given to me was not enough to keep me warm in a place so
cold. The privacy I had was very little. The shower and toilet was located in the corner of
the cell but they were not isolated enough to where the other inmates could not see me.
I undressed and dressed inside the shower to have some privacy. I even tried to have
privacy by hanging up a blanket from one corner of a wall stand to another but I got in
trouble by the jailor. All of these things just seemed so horrible and degrading to me.
My first few nights being in the cell called J–1 was scary. There were three other
woman in the cell that was always yelling or fighting over ridiculous things like the
television. Around the corner I could hear the accused killer "Cowboy Mike" always
singing the country songs that he liked so much or the banging of his coffee cup against
the bars of the cell when he was angry. One time he even used the shower curtain rod to
try to escape from his line cell. Even further down the line there was an accused rapist
and of course he had to put his two cents in by always screaming that the devil was
coming after him. All I could think is how scary this was and I wanted out. Not two
days from now nor thirty days I wanted out right then!
I was separated from the outside unable to touch or hold the people that were so
dear to me. It was a lonely feeling; I would hate to see anyone

Lessons of Life Essay
All through life, we experience various occasions when decision–making become necessary. A
number of them present themselves in difficult forms and at crucial points. Most of the verdict
we take will eventually figure and describe our track of lives. These are what we refer to as lessons
of life. Choices never present themselves in an easy way. In some instance we are always forced to
pay a price to achieve something. This implies that we are trading for an outcome we are seeking.
Period, actions and situation can help us learn a lot about our environment, ourselves and people in
general. They give us an opportunity to face our reliability, integrity, accountability and skills of
dealing with life result. In the beginning, people have...show more content...
However, Life can then be said to be the conditional value of human affairs or individual's manner
of living, it is the admiration of one's condition, personality and behaviour. It can be the measured
by the collective value of each affair in distinctive class or type, and considering whichever way or
the nature of living one indulges in, either at the low–level or high level or the good or evil etiquette
of living. According to Timothy Titcomb in his book "Lessons in life" he noted that there are so
many outrageous things that have been practiced in the family and moods are the excuses being
given for such action, because, moods are the most indefensible things generally (Titcomb, 6).
Additionally, Titcomb stated that Living creatures can thus in a level become the masters of their
mood (Titcomb, 7).
John Cleese once quoted that "We all work in two contrasting modes, which might be described as
open and closed". In view of this, he expatiated that "the open mode is more relaxed, more receptive,
more democratic, more playful and more humorous. While, the closed mode is tighter, more rigid,
hierarchical, and more tunnel–vision. He further elaborated that most people spend most of their time
in the closed mode"
Consequently, each person at some point in life asks some question about life. Some ask if they
actually want to live the kind of life they are experiencing, while some will ask other questions like

Reflective Essay: Lessons Learned
This is assignment was one of the first writing assignments I have written since graduating high
school in 2005. While writing this essay I learned several things about myself and become
extremely excited when I learned I had earned 8 out of 10 points after submitting this assignment.
This first part of writing this essay was to pick a topic to write about. I decided to choose acne for
the simple reason when I was growing up I had acne but finally grew out of it. After I decide on
the topic I had to gather the information for the essay itself which was not that easy. I had to gather
the information from different websites and was also able to find celebrates that revealed their
stories on the Proactiv website. Once I gathered the information required for the assignment I
began writing which was difficult at first but once I was able to get started it seemed to become
easier. The only thing I would change about my paper if given the chance would be to organize
the paper a little bit better. I would also try to apply different words that are not used in everyday
writing, this might have helped me with my grade however using larger words could also hurt my
paper if I did not use them correctly....show more content...
I noticed my work cited page was not on its own page after I had already submitted the
assignment. I also had several different mistakes that I did not noticed after submitting the paper
but once I was given guidance by my Instructor I believe I was able to correct the work cited page
correctly to meet MLA standards. I know that with the information and guidance I have learned
during this assignment I feel that I will be able to correctly write a successful essay assignment
during my college career along with my career as a Law Enforcement

Overall, the differentiation strategy didn't work for DigiCam, while each of the five competitors

After differentiation proved futile, DigiCam also attempted a low–cost strategy. A low cost strategy
over rivals has enormous competitive power, sometimes enabling a company to achieve faster rates
of growth (Thompson, 2010, p.90). To do so, DigCam sought to attract a significant number of
buyers by having lower prices in all markets, with the exception of Latin America where the company
controlled the dominant share of the market. Although DigiCam met buyer's expectations and
increased profit and revenue, the company still failed to overcome the strategic moves conducted by
the rival digital camera companies.
Offensive and Defensive Strategies Offensive strategies enable organizations to go the attack in
order to take advantage of the weaknesses of competitors. DigiCam made efforts to employ an
offensive strategy focused on increasing the company's net revenue and profits. Since the company
was already strong in Latin America and doing well in North America, DigiCam took aim to
increase sales in those two areas requiring market growth: Europe–Africa and Asia–Pacific. DigiCam

Personal Lessons Learned
From an early age I was taught the importance of personal integrity and the importance of being
adaptable and prepared for any stressful situation that life may throw at you. During my time as a
boy scout I was constantly taught to be prepared and to also to always be at the service of others.
At the end of our camping trips we would be told repeatedly to "leave this place, better than when
you found it" and this lesson has translated into my own life. I want to make the world a better (safer)
place than when I found it. As I grew up, these lessons continued to play a key role in the decisions
I made and have made me into the man that I've become today.
While in middle school and into high school I had the opportunity to be exposed to many cultures
that were different than my own. I volunteered weekly through my church in a predominately
Hispanic community that was located in the Port of Houston. The neighborhood was extremely
impoverished and many of the students were involved in gangs, or had one or more parents that
were incarcerated. The more I worked with these young men and women, the more I learned about
myself and that the lesson I learned years prior of making the world better than when you found it
rang true. This community was not like the neighborhood that I lived in, and I was definitely...show

Reflective Essay On Learning A Lesson
Learning a Lesson (*TRY TO GET TO 3 PAGES*)
Before third grade, I had always viewed the concept of education abstractly: as a thing people do to
get a job and earn money. Because of this, I didn't fully understand the importance of education, even
though my parents would always tell me that it's necessary to live. To me, education did not yet have
a defined value. I only thought of it as something that most people have. This completely changed
once I could comprehend the power of it in real–world contexts. My understanding of education
expanded from the idea of self–sufficiency to the opportunities to shape a person's life in their own
image.
My mom was the first person to explain to me why people go to school. She said, "school provides
the knowledge needed for a job, and that job provides money." I had stuck with that explanation
for years until I felt that it wasn't as complete as it could have been. Going to school didn't seem
as purposeful as it used to, and the value I held school as was shrinking. After a couple weeks of
increasing disfavor of school, I finally asked my dad for his input on why people go to school. He
told me that education allows people to not only support themselves, but also do good things for
others. With this statement, I felt a new hope for my schooling years and resumed my original
viewpoint on receiving education.
For the rest of the day, I thought about the impact education had on the lives of people working
influential jobs, and the

Lessons Learned From My Interview
One of my interviewee was my supervisor and I had an opportunity to learn different things about
my field of study from her. One of the things I learned was the importance of connections and
keeping up with different individuals in order to be aware of job opportunities.
One of the things I learned was how relationships can be crucial in gaining information and in getting
exposed to job opportunities. Whether the opportunities are advertised or not, being connected to
someone with access to the job opportunity information makes a difference when it comes to getting
a job.
Likewise, apart from knowledge obtained in school, many jobs require being able and willing to

Therefore, organizations value individuals that can contribute different things to team efforts. This

Another thing I learned from my interview was how important it is to have a good impression on
your clients and coworkers. This can be done through the way you dress and how you interact with
people regardless of who they are. Smiling and interacting politely to clients and coworkers is very
important when you are providing helpdesk services.
Willingness to learn and reflect on my mistakes is another important skill that I learned is important
for helpdesk services. This is because sometimes there will be challenging problems that I won't
be able to solve and need help from my coworkers. Also, there might be a clients need that I

in the course of our lives we will always have ups and downs, who have taught us many lessons,

Lessons Learned From My Peers
The first feedback I received from my peers was very crucial into the development in my final

the other on how someone who affected me wrongfully but developed me into the person I am

that the first two paragraphs on my essay needed to be taken out because it was lot of plot. They
wanted me to get straight to the point like I was in the third paragraph. They wanted me to make a
stronger thesis and install more imagery into the essay. My grammar needed improvement and so
did my vocabulary. They loved when I talked about how this experience shaped me today and how
it has helped me a better person overall. My peers noticed and really liked the fact that I mentioned

My Writing Lessons I Learned
All these theories and strategies I learned about were implemented through the frequent writing
assignments. As a first year, I have had little experience with writing research based papers. I
frequently wrote in high school, but never used APA format. I had never written an annotated
bibliography before, and it assisted me in organizing my research. I learned that writing is never
finished; as a perfectionist, I often struggled with my longer papers. As an undergraduate, I need
to give room for failure and accept it. I worked hard in this class, and I like to think my grades
reflect it. This class taught me the importance of rubrics and how to stay on top of things. I will not
always have time to constantly critique my work in the career force,

A Lesson Learned Essay

  • 1. Personal Narrative: Lesson Learned Lesson Learned Where do I go when I don't know where to start? How can I enlighten you the reader, about my journey through the dark? I guess I'll start by telling you about myself. I have gained a lot of wisdom in 23 years of my life, but I've never really shared my life story with anyone until now. Do I start with my failing moments, or do I start with my most up–rising moments? What about my relationship with my mother or the relationship with my fiance and kids? I don't want to make this a regular story about my best birthday celebration or the first car I bought, I want to tell you about the grittiness of my life. I don't see myself as an average human, maybe it's my zodiac sign Aquarius that makes me overthink about myself as a person. I'd like to tell you about my family. To start off with, I'm a young Hispanic man raised by a single mother of two boys who grew up in a decent environment. When I mean decent, I mean that we weren't rich nor were we...show more content... I needed to think outside the box and realize what is important in life is making the right choices. Making good choices opens my life up to opportunities such as becoming an engineer. Until I get my high school diploma from YouthBuild, my opportunities to make money are limited. I may be poor in material items, but I'm rich in my mind and heart. YouthBuild is also going to help me learn the construction trade, which will help me earn an income and pay for college. My Mom is very happy with my choices and she is looking forward to me obtaining my high school diploma. She is going to throw my a party when I complete the YouthBuild program. So what I've learned, it that it doesn't matter what Zodiac sign I am, what matters is that I am moving forward with my life. My Mom is a role model for me and I hope after receiving my high school diploma and college degree that my daughters will consider me a role model Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Life Lessons Learned What's a lesson you have learned in your life? Well, you have probably learned more than one lesson in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that Jesus is the only perfect person, and that I shouldn't feel like I am lacking perfection, because it isn't possible. I can still strive for it, but I won't get all the way there. Some people may find that discouraging, but I find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will know that I almost did something impossible. Other people might see that I'm saying that they will fail, and they will. The truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn't lie about this, and you just need to accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Bible has taught me many things. One of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, "As for God, his way is perfect; the LORD'S word is flawless; he shields all that take refuge in him." I had a bad day, and opened to a random verse, and found this. One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided to take my Bible to school to read after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of the day. It was a little bit after 10 o'clock, and Mr. Porter had given us a break. I was by myself sitting in the grass near the backstop on the west side of the field. I was having a bad day, being told I was worthless, so I took my Bible outside and opened my Bible to a random place and started reading. I smelled the grass and felt it under me. The warm May air hugged me like a comforting parent. The grass was slightly wet and the book was heavy in my my hands, the design on the front cover was cool under my fingertips. My fuzzy jacket and sweatpants against my waist and legs. I heard the kids playing around me and the wind whistling through my ears. The pages are thin in my hands as I open to a random place and start reading, seeing only the words. I hear a whistle blown by Mr. Porter, and stand up, feeling the familiar tingle when my legs have fallen asleep. Have you ever gone to summer camp? Well, if you haven't, I would suggest it. It is a few in a lifetime chance, and it can change your life. I went to a christian summer camp at Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In the WW1 we can see many people suffered and also struggle to live because of the war that very greater and brutal, each country vying for control of the colony and want to be a superpower without considering the impact on people in their own country. Started from 1914 to 1918 throughout the war, over millions of soldier fought for their country and died along a front hundreds of miles long in trenches which rarely move backwards or forwards by more than a few hundred yards at a time. The life in trenches is very dangerous, for as well as the clearly dangers during an attack, the front lines in trenches meant constant exposure to surprise attack, grenade, sniping, shelling and gas attack or trench raid. The soldier died not only by the bullets of machine gun, rifles, sniper or grenade but gas and shells that scared the men most. The German led in gas development, there's many type of gas that very stronger and dangerous that can easily killed people who struck with the gas. Mustard gas, the one of dangerous gas a form of ethylene was designed to disable rather than kill. • 4. Lesson Learned Essay Lesson Learned There are so many events that change one's life that it is rather difficult to try and decipher which of those events are most important. Each event changes a different aspect of your life, molding how one's personality turns out. One of these events occurred when I was about twelve years old and I attempted to steal from a Six Flags amusement park. My reasoning for stealing wasn't that I didn't have the money, or even that I wanted what I stole all that badly, it was that all of my friends had stolen something earlier that day and didn't get caught. After getting caught I resolved, because the consequences are just not worth it, never to steal or give into peer pressure again. It all began when a couple of friends...show more content... Then out of nowhere, the ride releases and starts roaring around the track. As always the ride ended far too soon and we set off for the next ride, "Twister Two." On the way to "Twister Two" one of my friends suddenly had a candy bar in his possession. When he was asked how he got it, he simply replied, "I stole it." It was so amazing to me that he could do that, and act as if it was no big deal. To me stealing would be a thing that needed to be planned and executed, but to him it was just another place that he ripped off. He explained that it is easy to do, "you just grab what you want, wait 'til no one's looking, and then walk out." This is when I first began pondering the idea of stealing. I had never stole before because I knew it was against my morals, but there was that rebel in me that wanted to try it. He, on the other hand, had probably stolen so many times that he could do it with his eyes closed, and he had never been caught. Lucky him. While in line for the next ride, I began debating whether or not I should try to steal something before the end of the day. That thought was immediately shook of by the rattle of the roller coaster that we were standing under. It always looked so unstable, with the entire thing made of wood instead of metal, and the whole track would wobble and click when the cart flew by. That was another ride that we would always need to get to early because the line would grow to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Leadership Lessons Learned Upon finishing this course, I have learned an important lesson to be a manager and a leader of my own life to lead others successfully. First, I have learned to manage and align my actions with my core values because that will bring the satisfaction and fulfillment to what I do; this approach will reflect positively on my work ethics and standard of care toward patients and coworkers. The second lesson I have attained is to manage life boundaries intelligently and integrate my work and my life successfully; which was clearly stated in module one upon discussing leadership and management in correlation to problem–solving, decision making, and critical thinking. The third lesson I have liberated as a manager I have to embrace changes courageously and adapt to any situation that is not in my comfort zone; module two emphasizes that changes will fulfill the management role; yet a good leader is always perceptive and open to changes and view it as an opportunity for growth and development....show more content... I have learned that a good leader was not born with a great capacity to lead others yet, he/she has persistence, discipline, passion, and courage to follow what is best for self and others. This course helps me to grow deeper and stronger in many aspects such as communication, leadership, advocacy, professional attitude, technology utilization, and viewing the role of manager form different perspective. The emphasis on understanding the fact that the success of any organization is highly focused on the success of its leader/manager. • 6. The Lesson I Learned My Lesson Here is a time where I've learned my lesson. I was like a mini Dora the Explorer except, I was a brat. I was so picky, such a princess, I got myself in trouble every day, I'd make everyone so stressed out. I was your worst nightmare disguised as Dora the Explorer. I usually would like things my way, and my way only. I felt if I was the who was always right and I was the smartmouth. I was the definition of a brat. So, let me give background on how annoying I was. Sometimes I'd bark. I had this habit of barking under furniture. For example, let's take a dining table, a fort, chairs, and even in cabinets. It was a very odd habit but it was how I got attention and showed my anger. I would bark as loud as my voice can roar. And every single time I did, was every single time I got hung upside down and swung. My brother was in charge of teaching me lessons, and lessons I didn't want to receive. Since I did actions he didn't want me to do and that I didn't like, he did the same. And he would do this everyday because I would constantly irritate him. It seemed as if I could never care anymore, because I actually had no idea why he would teach me lessons. Like I said, I felt if I was always right and things had to go my way. If they didn't I'd throw temper tantrums. It was bad. I would throw things. I would hurt myself, try to hurt the opposing person who disagreed with my way. I use to barely eat, it was unhealthy. I usually ate an orange and a bag of chips a day. I was force fed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Lessons Learnt in Project Management Introduction Lessons learned in Project Management In good project management, it is very important that the project manager with the help of the project team capture and document for historical reference the experiences encountered during the course of carrying out a project. These experiences whether positive or negative or from past or present projects, are very vital to process maturity and improvement and are hence incorporated into future project management procedures.[6] This idea of project management via lessons learned/ past experience tool is very vital to the success of a company or organisation with regards to the performance of present and most importantly future projects. This is because it helps many project managers across...show more content... This is due to the fact that corporate memories are often very short and an individual's memory can be highly selective. Hence, the major cornerstones of events within a project can be focused upon, but the underlying reasons for these events completely forgotten. Therefore a formal collection of lessons learnt in the course of a project, by the project manager and the project team, is a vital activity in administrative closure.[9] Goals Of A Lessons Learned Process The project manager and project team's goals, when carrying out lessons learnt sessions, at the end of a project, include ensuring that the outcome is knowledge sharing and positive impact on future projects. The goal should also be to create a positive environment which is blame free and participants can be honest about the setbacks encountered in the course of the project. The project review process should also aim at balancing the amount of precious people–time utilised, to the returns of this time investment on project team and organisation as a whole. This process should also have a goal of being able to set out pliable tools and methods for various project teams sizes to effectively analyse project occurrences and hence implement a cause of action for Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Lessons Learned Jhesson Ynoa Eng11 – 1857 May 10, 2010 In the essays that we have read this semester, the authors were effective in helping their readers to learn something from the authors various subject matters, which could be used in the readers' own lives. I have chosen four essays that I have read this term from which I have learned from. The four essays I decided on are: "Shooting an Elephant" by George Orwell, "Sex, Lies, and Conversation" by Deborah Tannen, "What Really Scares Us" by David Ropeik, and "Delusions of Grandeur" by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. In George Orwell's "Shooting an Elephant" Orwell writes of his experience in British ruled India in the early Twentieth Century. At the time, he was a young, inexperienced soldier stationed...show more content... Women don't mind another point of view as long as it is in the form of a suggestion or inquiry rather than as a direct challenge. All these differences in this essay begin to clarify why men and women have such different expectations of communication. Tannen suggests, once men and women understand these differences, improvement in communication will come naturally. In the future one can use the information in this essay to recognize his or her differences when it comes to conversation and learn to alter their behavior to improve communication with their partner, rather than right and wrong which can lead to breaking up or divorce. In David Ropeik's "What Really Scares Us", Ropeik argues that Humans perceive risk through emotions rather than reasoning even though we obtain a highly advanced brain which gives us the power to reason. Ropeik says that the reason humans perceive risk emotionally before reasoning is because our brains are biologically built to fear first and think second. The brain has two parts that are built mainly for reasoning and emotion. One of these parts is called the prefrontal cortex, behind your forehead, which is the area where we do a lot of our reasoning and thinking. The other part, which is the brain's key emotion center, is the amygdala. Because of the way the brain is built, information gets to the amygdale first before getting to the prefrontal cortex. In that case a person would react Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. What I Have Learned Essay What I Have Learned When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. I feel that I have to get rid of bad habits in order to make room for better habits that I need for everyday life. I am learning better habits everyday. Even though I did bad on my first exam I feel that counted as learning for me because now I know what it takes for me to receive a high grade on any test I take. The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted. In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. Every assignment I have done in college is teaching me something new. I think I feel this way because I am maturing and I now view learning differently than I did Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I undressed and dressed inside the shower to have some privacy. I even tried to have privacy by hanging up a blanket from one corner of a wall stand to another but I got in trouble by the jailor. All of these things just seemed so horrible and degrading to me. My first few nights being in the cell called J–1 was scary. Most of the verdict we take will eventually figure and describe our track of lives. These are what we refer to as lessons of life. Choices never present themselves in an easy way. In some instance we are always forced to pay a price to achieve something. This implies that we are trading for an outcome we are seeking. Period, actions and situation can help us learn a lot about our environment, ourselves and people in general. It can be the measured by the collective value of each affair in distinctive class or type, and considering whichever way or the nature of living one indulges in, either at the low–level or high level or the good or evil etiquette of living. According to Timothy Titcomb in his book "Lessons in life" he noted that there are so many outrageous things that have been practiced in the family and moods are the excuses being given for such action, because, moods are the most indefensible things generally (Titcomb, 6). Additionally, Titcomb stated that Living creatures can thus in a level become the masters of their mood (Titcomb, 7). John Cleese once quoted that "We all work in two contrasting modes, which might be described as open and closed". In view of this, he expatiated that "the open mode is more relaxed, more receptive, more democratic, more playful and more humorous. While, the closed mode is tighter, more rigid, hierarchical, and more tunnel–vision. He further elaborated that most people spend most of their time in the closed mode" Consequently, each person at some point in life asks some question about life. Some ask if they actually want to live the kind of life they are experiencing, while some will ask other questions like "who am I" or "The importance of their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Reflective Essay: Lessons Learned This is assignment was one of the first writing assignments I have written since graduating high school in 2005. While writing this essay I learned several things about myself and become extremely excited when I learned I had earned 8 out of 10 points after submitting this assignment. This first part of writing this essay was to pick a topic to write about. I decided to choose acne for the simple reason when I was growing up I had acne but finally grew out of it. After I decide on the topic I had to gather the information for the essay itself which was not that easy. I had to gather the information from different websites and was also able to find celebrates that revealed their stories on the Proactiv website. Once I gathered the information required for the assignment I began writing which was difficult at first but once I was able to get started it seemed to become easier. The only thing I would change about my paper if given the chance would be to organize the paper a little bit better. I would also try to apply different words that are not used in everyday writing, this might have helped me with my grade however using larger words could also hurt my paper if I did not use them correctly....show more content... Overall, the differentiation strategy didn't work for DigiCam, while each of the five competitors basically buried us with their own competitive pricing. After differentiation proved futile, DigiCam also attempted a low–cost strategy. A low cost strategy over rivals has enormous competitive power, sometimes enabling a company to achieve faster rates of growth (Thompson, 2010, p.90). To do so, DigCam sought to attract a significant number of buyers by having lower prices in all markets, with the exception of Latin America where the company controlled the dominant share of the market. Although DigiCam met buyer's expectations and increased profit and revenue, the company still failed to overcome the strategic moves conducted by the rival digital camera companies. • 15. Personal Lessons Learned From an early age I was taught the importance of personal integrity and the importance of being adaptable and prepared for any stressful situation that life may throw at you. During my time as a boy scout I was constantly taught to be prepared and to also to always be at the service of others. At the end of our camping trips we would be told repeatedly to "leave this place, better than when you found it" and this lesson has translated into my own life. I want to make the world a better (safer) place than when I found it. As I grew up, these lessons continued to play a key role in the decisions I made and have made me into the man that I've become today. While in middle school and into high school I had the opportunity to be exposed to many cultures that were different than my own. I volunteered weekly through my church in a predominately Hispanic community that was located in the Port of Houston. The neighborhood was extremely impoverished and many of the students were involved in gangs, or had one or more parents that were incarcerated. The more I worked with these young men and women, the more I learned about myself and that the lesson I learned years prior of making the world better than when you found it rang true. This community was not like the neighborhood that I lived in, and I was definitely...show more content... • 16. Reflective Essay On Learning A Lesson Learning a Lesson (*TRY TO GET TO 3 PAGES*) Before third grade, I had always viewed the concept of education abstractly: as a thing people do to get a job and earn money. Because of this, I didn't fully understand the importance of education, even though my parents would always tell me that it's necessary to live. To me, education did not yet have a defined value. I only thought of it as something that most people have. This completely changed once I could comprehend the power of it in real–world contexts. My understanding of education expanded from the idea of self–sufficiency to the opportunities to shape a person's life in their own image. My mom was the first person to explain to me why people go to school. She said, "school provides the knowledge needed for a job, and that job provides money." I had stuck with that explanation for years until I felt that it wasn't as complete as it could have been. Going to school didn't seem as purposeful as it used to, and the value I held school as was shrinking. After a couple weeks of increasing disfavor of school, I finally asked my dad for his input on why people go to school. He told me that education allows people to not only support themselves, but also do good things for others. With this statement, I felt a new hope for my schooling years and resumed my original viewpoint on receiving education. For the rest of the day, I thought about the impact education had on the lives of people working influential jobs, and the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Lessons Learned From My Interview One of my interviewee was my supervisor and I had an opportunity to learn different things about my field of study from her. One of the things I learned was the importance of connections and keeping up with different individuals in order to be aware of job opportunities. One of the things I learned was how relationships can be crucial in gaining information and in getting exposed to job opportunities. Whether the opportunities are advertised or not, being connected to someone with access to the job opportunity information makes a difference when it comes to getting a job. Likewise, apart from knowledge obtained in school, many jobs require being able and willing to learn new skills and ideas. This is because the field of computer...show more content... Therefore, organizations value individuals that can contribute different things to team efforts. This challenges individuals searching for jobs to be involved and take part in different teamwork activities like group projects in order to develop team work skills. Another thing I learned from my interview was how important it is to have a good impression on your clients and coworkers. This can be done through the way you dress and how you interact with people regardless of who they are. Smiling and interacting politely to clients and coworkers is very important when you are providing helpdesk services. Willingness to learn and reflect on my mistakes is another important skill that I learned is important for helpdesk services. This is because sometimes there will be challenging problems that I won't be able to solve and need help from my coworkers. Also, there might be a clients need that I worked on and did not do it to their satisfaction and I might have to acknowledge it and see how I could perform better the next Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Lessons Learned From My Field Experience I learned many things from my field experience. One positive thing I learned from my field experience was that you have to be very patient. • 20. Lessons Learned From My Peers The first feedback I received from my peers was very crucial into the development in my final essay. In my draft, I had two short essay. One about how dirt bike riding was important to me, and the other on how someone who affected me wrongfully but developed me into the person I am today. Out of five of my peers, they all chose the essay to do with my bullying. My peers thought that the first two paragraphs on my essay needed to be taken out because it was lot of plot. They wanted me to get straight to the point like I was in the third paragraph. They wanted me to make a stronger thesis and install more imagery into the essay. My grammar needed improvement and so did my vocabulary. They loved when I talked about how this experience shaped me today and how it has helped me a better person overall. My peers noticed and really liked the fact that I mentioned that I am happy with myself no matter what someone says about me. My instructor really liked the story of the essay but really wanted me to be...show more content... I thought this feedback was not helpful at all and very opinionated. I think that my story was very good and it would look good in the eyes of colleges. One comment that was helpful was that I should add a specific event. This helped me narrow my essay from a broader topic to a more detailed one. The feedback I did use was to delete the paragraphs that did not explain the story or were just boring and just get straight to the point like I did in the last paragraph. I also decided to accept the feedback on adding a specific event that had in my life and how it really changed me. I accepted the feedback on adding stronger words as well. I denied the comment or feedback on how I should delete the essay and start fresh because I thought this story had a lot of potential, which it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. My Writing Lessons I Learned All these theories and strategies I learned about were implemented through the frequent writing assignments. As a first year, I have had little experience with writing research based papers. I frequently wrote in high school, but never used APA format. I had never written an annotated bibliography before, and it assisted me in organizing my research. I learned that writing is never finished; as a perfectionist, I often struggled with my longer papers. As an undergraduate, I need to give room for failure and accept it. I worked hard in this class, and I like to think my grades reflect it. This class taught me the importance of rubrics and how to stay on top of things. I will not always have time to constantly critique my work in the career force, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
