EXTERNAL CLIENT
PROJECT

 Hollie Ferguson
 N0333108
Assignment Brief
• You are expected to find a company (organisation) that is
external to the University for this part of the module. The
task is to then produce Multimedia design solutions to a
brief agreed by yourself, the organisation and your
  allocated university Project Supervisor.
• The tutor may need to talk to the client and ensure that
the project satisfies the module criteria. The priority for the
project is the students’ academic study and NOT the
  companies’ requirements.
Clairebear’s Cakes,
   Background Overview.
• Clairebear’s Cakes. She makes her own cakes, for many
different occasions and likes to use the internet to show
what she is capable of making.
• Established: April 2012
• Lives in a village so customers are quite local, would like
to be able to raise her profile.
• Currently has a Twitter and Facebook page with 700 likes.
  Cakes/110371029092593
• Twitter @clairebearsc
• In the future, Claire would like to set up a tea room,
although would like to create the website and awareness
  of her business first.
What Am I Making?
And Why…?
• I need to create a website that highlights what Claire
makes and why the audience should use her over other
cake companies. The website should showcase the
uniqueness of her business and its products. Need to
leave a lasting impression on the user so not only do they
buy her products but also spread the word of her business
  to other users.
• The website should captivate the viewer through the use
of selling the products, both with images and words.
• I am doing this for my final university project & the option
to make my own brief & own client means I can make it to
  the best standard possible.
Audience
• Who will the site be aimed for?
• The main audience is typically females aged over 20,
wanting cakes for their children, friends and partners.
Claire is aware of this and will often word her status’ on
Facebook to relate to the audience, for example knowing
valentine’s day is approaching she will use this to sell her
  cakes.
• Cakes can be brought from many different businesses so
Claire’s needs to stand out and if using rapport with the
audience they will want to use her again & hopefully
spread the word about her business. Women are much
more likely to do this than men.
• Claire wants to achieve awareness of her business from
the site, hoping the audience can help to do this.
Cake Website Inspiration
• http://www.charmcitycakes.com/

Design Ideas
• After researching into cake sites & what Claire would
ideally like her site to look like I am going to create a
stylish, simple yet eye opening site to sell the product and
increase the profile of the business.
• I need to make my site classy, stylish and contemporary,
with the theme of cakes being involved yet not too similar
to other cake sites. I am using a traditional 4 page site,
home, about, gallery, pricing (ordering available) and
  contact.
• Would like to link her Tumblr, blog, Facebook & Twitter to
  the website.
Colour Ideas
• Claire already has a business card she uses although will
change it after the website as she would like to include the
  new logo on it.
• The current business card looks like this:
• Claire would like to stick to the theme of the cream, pink
  and brown colours
Colour Ideas
• Looking at colour themes on Adobe Kuler I
• searched for “cakes” to see some themes I could perhaps
 discuss and use with Claire.
Wireframes – Home Page
• I showed Claire my previous work and the options of
scrolling site, or traditional 5 page site.
• She wants the 5 page site, this shows some wireframes for
  home page & gallery page.
Management Plan
• The university deadline is 22/03/13. Claire is fine with this also
    being the deadline for her.
• 1) 21/01/2013 meet to discuss about the business and what
    Claire wants.
• 2) 28/01/2013 look at moodboard, wireframes and colour
theme ideas to see if they fit with what Claire wants. Any
mock ups of the site to be shown too.
• 3) 11/02/2013 home page & about page should be complete,
    present and discuss.
• 4) 25/02/2013 gallery of cakes and contact page to present &
    discuss.
• 5) 11/03/2013 present final product, any changes or
amendments to be made at this stage
• 6) 18/03/2013 deliver final product, in plenty of time for
    university deadline.
