- 5. 6 7 การออกแบบคือหนึ่งในศาสตร์ของคนช่างคิด ความสุขของหลายคนคือการที่ได้ทำ�งาน แบบสร้างสรรค์และไม่ปล่อยให้ซีนที่ผ่าน เข้าสมองออกไปเป็นแค่เพียงภาพที่มองเห็น เท่านั้น ไม่ว่าใครจะมีอาชีพอะไร อิสระของ การได้ใช้ไอเดียกับสิ่งที่ตนรักคงเติมเต็มให้ วันหนึ่งผ่านไปอย่างมีค่า ทุกวันนี้ฟรีแมกกาซีน ถือเป็นแหล่งหนึ่งที่ช่วยรวบรวมข้อมูลและ ความคิดใหม่ๆให้ผู้อ่านค้นหาทางออกใน แต่ละเรื่อง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการพักผ่อน การทำ�งาน หรือ การใช้ชีวิต แม้ว่าปัจจุบันจะมีฟรีแมกกาซีน ออกมาหลายเล่ม หลากสไตล์ แต่มีเพียง ไม่กี่เล่มเท่านั้นที่มุ่งเน้นเพื่อคนที่รักไอเดีย สร้างสรรค์ DIN (Design Inspiring Node) ฟรีแมกกาซีน เล่มใหม่ที่ต้องการเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของความคิด สร้างสรรค์ในแต่ละวันของผู้อ่าน DIN เกิดจาก การรวมตัวกันระหว่างสำ�นักพิมพ์ลายเส้น และ Tank Design and Production คณะทำ�งานกลุ่มเล็กๆ ที่มีแรงผลักดัน จากความต้องการที่จะทำ�ฟรีแมกกาซีน แนวไลฟ์สไตล์เชิงสถาปัตยกรรมเล่มแรก ในประเทศไทย โดยมีการนำ�เสนอสาระใน แง่มุมที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่องานออกแบบ มีเนื้อหาสะท้อนสังคมให้แง่คิดและอ่านได้ อย่างสบายๆ ผ่านเรื่องง่ายๆในชีวิตประจำ�วัน ตั้งแต่การกิน เที่ยว ชอปปิ้ง หรือ แม้กระทั่ง การนอน โดยแต่ละฉบับจะมีทั้งหมด 16 คอลัมน์ที่สอดคล้องกับ theme ที่นำ�เสนอ และมีเนื้อหาครอบคลุมแต่ละสาขาของ การสร้างสรรค์ รวบรวมไว้เป็นแหล่งข้อมูล หลายท่านคงเคยประสบปัญหาเรื่องพื้นที่ ทำ�งานที่มีเท่าไหร่ก็ไม่พอ ซื้ออุปกรณ์สำ�รอง ข้อมูลราคาถูกมาใช้ก็เสี่ยงที่ข้อมูลจะสูญหาย ส่วนจะซื้อราคาแพงพื้นที่ก็ไม่พอใช้ และถ้า ต้องการระบบสำ�รองข้อมูลเต็มรูปแบบก็มี ราคาสูง และต้องมีหลายระบบซ้อนกันเพื่อ ป้องกันความผิดพลาด ส่วนฮาร์ดแวร์หรือ ซอร์ฟแวร์ก็ไม่ใช่ทางออกทั้งหมดของระบบ การจัดเก็บและสำ�รองข้อมูลที่ดี นโยบายและ โครงสร้างการจัดเก็บต่างหากที่เป็นหัวใจ สำ�คัญ ดังนั้นคอมพิวเตอร์จึงเป็นทางเลือก หนึ่ง ซึ่งต้องทำ�งานร่วมกับมาตรฐานการจัด เก็บและสำ�รองไฟล์ขององค์กร วิธีพื้นฐานสำ�หรับโครงสร้างการจัดเก็บ ข้อมูล คุณอาจแบ่งง่ายๆ ตามชื่อโครงการ รหัสงาน หรืออะไรแล้วแต่ตามที่หน่วยงาน ของคุณใช้ และสร้างเป็นคู่มือการทำ�งานเพื่อ ให้ทุกคนในองค์กรได้เรียนรู้ ในแต่ละแฟ้ม เอกสารที่คุณสร้างตามโครงสร้างที่ออกแบบ ไว้นั้นควรมีการกำ�หนดรูปแบบการจัดเก็บ ง่ายๆ เพื่อให้เป็นมาตรฐาน และเพื่อความ เหมาะสม เช่น ขนาดของไฟล์ รูปแบบและ ประเภทของไฟล์ เพื่อลดการสิ้นเปลือง ทรัพยากรนั่นเอง ตัวอย่างเช่น • ไฟล์รูปภาพควรเก็บเป็น .JPG หรือ .PNG ไม่ควรเก็บเป็น .PSD ซึ่งเป็นไฟล์ ทำ�งานของ Photoshop เป็นต้น และการ เก็บไฟล์ควรคำ�นึงถึงลักษณะการใช้งาน เช่น ความละเอียด ความสามารถของเครื่อง หรือการนำ�ไปใช้งาน เช่น เครื่องพิมพ์พื้นฐาน ทั่วไปในสำ�นักงานใช้ความละเอียดเพียง ของแต่ละศาสตร์ที่สามารถช่วยต่อยอดให้ กลายเป็นไอเดียใหม่ๆในการสร้างสรรค์งาน ของคุณ DIN จัดทำ�เป็น 2 ภาษาเพื่อเป็น การอัพเดทความเคลื่อนไหวของวงการ สถาปัตยกรรมและงานออกแบบของไทย ให้เป็นที่รับรู้ในวงกว้างและเกิดการหมุนเวียน ทางธุรกิจ ถึงแม้ว่า DIN จัดทำ�ภายใต้สำ�นักพิมพ์ ลายเส้น สำ�นักพิมพ์ที่มีประสบการณ์ตรง ด้านสถาปัตยกรรม แต่ DIN ไม่ได้จัดพิมพ์ เพื่อมุ่งเสนอเนื้อหาไปยังสถาปนิกเท่านั้น แต่ยังรวมไปถึง นักออกแบบ ศิลปินร่วมสมัย นักคิด นักเขียน อีกทั้งเพื่อเป็นสื่อกลาง สำ�หรับผู้คนที่เกี่ยวข้องกับธุรกิจอสังหาริมทรัพย์ อีกด้วย ในปี 2555 นี้ คุณสามารถพบกับ ดิน ได้ ทุกๆ 2 เดือน เริ่มตั้งแต่เดือน เมษายน มิถุนายน กันยายน ไปจนถึง ธันวาคม โดย จะจัดวางตาม ออฟฟิศที่รับออกแบบ สถาปัตยกรรม หรือ ตกแต่งภายใน, บริษัท ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับอสังหาริมทรัพย์, ร้านจำ�หน่าย วัสดุก่อสร้างและตกแต่งภายใน, ศูนย์การค้า และแหล่งรวมไลฟ์สไตล์ชั้นนำ� คณะสถาปัตย- กรรมและคณะเกี่ยวกับการออกแบบในแขนง ต่างๆ ตามมหาวิทยาลัย ---------------------------------------------- It’s unlikely for creative people to allow any scene to pass their eyes without analyzing it. DIN (Design Inspiring Node) is a new free magazine which has emerged from the cooperation between Lizenn Publishing and Tank Design and Production, the enthusiastic team who share the common goal to produce the first free magazine in Thailand aimed at the lifestyle theme with the tone of architectural topics. The content reflects social issues related to everyday life style such as eating, sleeping, shopping, and traveling, and maintains to provide useful information and an insight to the design career. Each issue is comprised of 16 columns covering different types of art and design that can be an inspiring hub to assist readers to top up on their own ideas. DIN is published in Thai and English to reach readers thoroughly and it is the way to update oneself as to the current movement in Thailand’s architectural industry. DIN is published by Lizenn, a publisher who has vast experience in architectural publication, and DIN not only provides information for architects but also interior designers, contemporary artists, thinkers, writers and also property developers. In 2012, DIN will be launched in April, June, September and December and distributed at architecture and interior firms, property development companies, construction and decoration stores, lifestyle department stores, and the faculty of architecture and other type of creative and design. ---------------------------------------------- To achieve efficiencies in the task of organizing data you can simply separate files by the given project names, working codes, etc, then create a manual for everyone in the office to use. Each type of file you have should be categorized by a relatively simple system such as by file size, format and type of files. For example; • Image files should be .JPG or .PNG whilst .PSD are reserved for frequent users of Photoshop. Other things to bear in mind are resolution, device capacity and usage purpose, for example; the size of files for general office work should not exceed 150 dpi, whilst those for website and PowerPoint usage should not exceed 96 dpi. Other methods are available to reduce file sizes, including the following tips; • Deselect auto backup for some programs which utilize auto backup such as Sketch Up and AutoCAD • Hide, delete or combine the layers in .PSD type files to reduce the file size. • The “ save as for web” in Photoshop helps .JPG files to be sharp and small. • If there are many images used in MS office programs, clicking “compress” on the image will assist in reducing the file size. • Reduce PowerPoint files by saving them in .PPS or .PPSX format and they can be converted to .PPT or .PPTX later. แต่จริงๆแล้วสิ่งที่แจ็ค เปิดเผยให้ฟังก็คือ การได้ทำ�อะไรในสิ่งที่ ไม่เคยทำ�คือสิ่งที่สร้างความสนุกให้กับการ ทำ�งานมากกว่า “ผมไม่เคยปักธงว่าผมเป็น สถาปนิกที่ต้องออกแบบงานแนวๆ เสมอไปนะ ผมแค่เป็นคนที่อยากทำ�อะไรที่ผมไม่เคยทำ� ไปเรื่อยๆมากกว่า สิ่งที่ผมไม่เคยทำ�ก็ไม่ได้ หมายความว่ามันใหม่นะ ไม่ได้อยากให้คน เข้าใจอย่างงั้น” โดยพื้นฐานของอาชีพของสถาปนิกคือ การออกแบบเพื่อแก้ปัญหา แต่โดยทัศนคติ ลักษณะเหมือนลูกคิด เวลาจะแปลอักษรก็เอา มือไปหมุนๆมัน สามารถทิ้งข้อความต่างๆ ไว้ได้ จะบอกรักกันหรือจะขอเบอร์กันอะไร ก็ว่าไปแต่ใช้ความพยายามหน่อย สไตล์ งานของ Supermachine อาจเป็นอะไรก็ได้ ส่วนตัวไม่ได้มีความต้องการให้งานตัวเองมี สไตล์ขึ้นมา ไม่อยากให้คนเห็นแล้วพูดว่า “นี่งาน Supermachine นี่หว่า” ไม่ชอบ คอนเซ็ปของคำ�ว่างานมีลายเซ็น DIN : ถ้าได้ออกแบบสถานที่ราชการ ไทย อยากออกแบบอะไร “ถ้ามีโอกาสได้ออกแบบสถานที่ราชการ ของไทย ผมจะเลือกทำ�สถานีตำ�รวจครับ อยากทำ�แล้วให้มีความโปร่งใสมาก จะนึก ก่อนเลยว่าพวกนี้วันๆเค้าทำ�อะไรบ้าง จับคนเล่นไพ่ จับยาบ้า เมียน้อยวิ่งไล่ตบ กับผัว ผมว่าสถานที่ราชการต้องทำ�เพื่อเอา มารองรับกิจกรรมพวกนี้ มันไม่ได้เริ่มจาก สัญลักษณ์ หรือความน่าเกรงขามหรืออะไร เทือกนั้น ตอนนี้สถานที่ราชการออกแบบมา มีพื้นที่โล่งให้เยอะมากมายแล้วก็ไม่ได้ใช้กัน มันงงๆนะครับ DIN: คิดอย่างไรกับการออกแบบและ เศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์ “ผมเบื่อคำ�ว่าเศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์เพราะ คนโน้นคนนี้เอามาพูดกันเท่ห์ๆ ไปเรื่อย แต่ ในที่สุดก็ไม่ชัดเจนอยู่ดีว่ามันคืออะไร การทำ� เศรษฐกิจ “แบบเอาจริงเอาจัง” หรือ “แบบ หมกหมุ่น” น่าจะเป็นหนทางที่สร้างเงินได้ อย่างฉลาดมากกว่า มันคือความเฉพาะ เจาะจง มีความเอาจริงเอาจังแบบบ้าเลือด (คล้ายๆนิสัยคนญี่ปุ่น)มันถึงจะสร้างมูลค่า ให้กับงาน เราถึงจะหาเงินได้มากขึ้น ตอนนี้ ที่พูดกันอยู่ในสังคมเรามันเป็นแบบ HOW TO เกินไป มันมาบอกกันไม่ได้หรอกว่า คุณทำ� 5 ข้อนี้สิแล้วคุณจะเป็นคนครีเอทีฟ ถ้าคุณ ได้ทำ�ในสิ่งที่คุณรักด้วยความหมกหมุ่นเลยนะ ผมว่าความสร้างสรรค์มันก็จะมาเอง” DIN: บทบาทของสถาปนิกไทยใน ปัจจุบันคืออะไร “สถาปนิกควรมีบทบาทด้านความเป็นนัก คิดมากขึ้นนะ ในประวัติศาสตร์มีตัวอย่าง มากมายในสังคมอื่นที่สถาปนิกสร้างผล งานออกมาเพื่อนำ�การเปลี่ยนแปลง หรือ ประท้วงสังคมในแต่ละยุคนั้นๆ นะ ถ้าสิ่งที่ เราทำ�มันคือแค่การตอบโจทย์ด้านโปรแกรม ความสวยงามและเทคนิคของลูกค้าอย่างเดียว บทบาทของอาชีพเรามันก็จะแบนมากเลย เราก็จะเป็นแค่คาแรคเตอร์ในสังคมที่คอย ตอบปัญหาต่างๆ ของชาวบ้าน ถ้าเกิดน้ำ�ท่วม ขึ้นมาคุณต้องก่อกระสอบทรายแบบนี้ถึงจะ แข็งแรง คุณต้องอุดท่อของคุณแบบนี้น้ำ� จะได้ไม่เข้า ถ้าหลังคารั่วจะทำ�ยังไง นี่เป็น แค่มุมเดียวจากบทบาทของสถาปนิก คือ บทบาทของช่าง หรือช่างแบบ หรือหมอบ้าน ซึ่งไม่ผิดอะไร แต่ไม่ได้มีบทบาทนี้อย่างเดียว ที่สังคมควรรับรู้ เราควรจะมีอิทธิพลกับสังคม ในบทบาทของนักคิดด้วยซึ่งผมคิดว่ามันสำ�คัญ กว่ามาก เวลาน้ำ�ท่วมสถาปนิกควรจะโดนเรียก เข้าไปอยู่ในคณะกรรมการอะไรโน่นนี่ด้วย นั่น คือสิ่งที่ผมมองว่าวงการเราควรจะวิ่งไป DIN: แล้วสิ่งที่แจ็คทำ�อยู่ตอนนี้คือ อะไร “ช่วยทางอาษาทำ�หนังสือและนิทรรศการ เกี่ยวกับ“น้ำ�”ชื่อ Water Brick อยู่ครับ เนื้อหาไม่ใช่วิธีแก้ปัญหาน้ำ�ท่วมนะครับ แต่เป็นมิติต่างๆของน้ำ�ที่เกี่ยวของกับคน สถาปัตยกรรมและเมืองของประเทศไทย เช่น เรื่องของบทบาทของสถาปัตยกรรมที่จะ ทำ�ให้เราอยู่กับน้ำ�ได้ เรื่องประวัติศาสตร์ การอยู่กับน้ำ�ของเมืองไทย เรื่องวิสัยทัศน์ ของสถาปัตยกรรมกับน้ำ�ในอนาคต โปรเจคนี้ เป็นการร่วมกันทำ�กับสตูดิโออื่นๆ หลายกลุ่ม ด้วยนะครับ ผมว่าเรื่องของน้ำ�ท่วมจริงๆ เกี่ยวข้องกับสภาพแวดล้อมและสถาปนิก เต็มๆ เลยนะครับ เพราะสถาปนิกคือคนที่ ออกแบบสิ่งต่างๆหลายอย่างที่อยู่รอบๆ ตัวเรา ทำ�ไมเราไม่พยายามเข้าใจน้ำ�ในมิติอื่นๆ ด้วย มีส่วนนึงของหนังสือที่ให้ออฟฟิศสถาปนิกไทย ร่วมกันแสดงวิสัยทัศน์ของเมืองน้ำ�ในอนาคต ในรูปแบบของVisionary Project สิ่งที่ ออฟฟิศเราเสนอเรียกว่าSuper Bowl ครับ พูดถึงเรื่องการอยู่กับน้ำ�อย่างรับผิดชอบ และ การใช้พื้นที่อย่างคุ้มค่า เราเสนอเมืองใหม่ที่ จุคนได้ 500,000คนสร้างอยู่บนคันดินของ อ่างเก็บน้ำ�ที่สร้างขึ้นมาใหม่ เมืองใหม่ที่ สร้างขึ้นมาช่วยดึงน้ำ�เข้าในหน้าน้ำ�และปล่อยน้ำ� ออกสู่แม่น้ำ�ในหน้าแล้ง ผู้คนทำ�นาขั้นบันได ส่วนตัวของแจ็คไม่ได้เป็นคนชอบแก้ปัญหา เป็นหลักอย่างเดียว แต่เขาคิดว่างาน สถาปัตยกรรมที่เคยทำ� ส่วนหนึ่งเป็นเหมือน บทความที่สะท้อนเรื่องราวต่างๆ ในสังคม ของเรามากกว่า DIN: ในปัจจุบันนี้คิดว่ากระแสของ งานออกแบบจะเป็นยังไง ตอนนี้นี้คิดว่าเราควรเอาจริงเอาจังกับ เรื่องน้ำ� พวกเราสถาปนิกยังไม่มีใครลุกขึ้นมา เอาจริงเอาจังเท่าไหร่กับเรื่องนี้ ไม่มีใครคิดว่า จะอยู่กับมันยังไง DIN: คิดว่าปีนี้โลกจะแตกมั้ย โดยส่วนตัวไม่คิดว่าโลกจะแตก แต่คิดว่า มีอะไรอยากทำ�ควรรีบทำ� เหมือน Steve Jobs ที่บอกว่า ทำ�ทุกวันเหมือนเป็นวันสุดท้าย ไม่ได้หมายความว่าทำ�อะไรให้ดีขึ้นเสมอไปนะ แต่ทำ�อะไรที่ไม่เคยทำ�ดีกว่า” DIN: คิดว่างานของตัวเองเป็นการนำ� หรือตามกระแส “งานของผมบอกไม่ได้ว่าเป็นการตามหรือ นำ�กระแส แต่ผมชอบทำ�ให้งานสื่อความหมาย ได้ ใช้งานเป็นตัวพูดเรื่องใดเรื่องหนึ่งออกมา ยิ่งได้ใช้อะไรที่มีความเป็นไทยๆเข้ามาผสม จะสนุกกับงานนั้นมากขึ้นไปอีก ความเป็น ไทยไม่ได้หมายถึงอะไรที่เป็นจั่วๆ นะครับ แต่เป็นความเป็นไทยอย่างทุกวันนี้ เช่น ตลาด การกินอาหารบนถนน สายไฟฟ้ารกๆ ผมว่าความสวยงามของคนไทยมาจากความ ไม่เพอร์เฟค มาจากความง่าย มาจากการ เอาไอ้นั่นไอ้นี่มาปะกัน ผมชอบความเป็นไทย แบบสวยงามบ้านๆ แต่เป็นตัวเราจริงๆ นะครับ คือไม่เรียบร้อยแต่มีเสน่ห์ครับ ยกตัวอย่าง นะครับ อย่าง“จ่าเฉย” เนี่ยผมชอบมากเลยนะ โง่ๆ แต่มันก็หลอกผมได้ทุกที มันเป็นสิ่งที่ง่าย ไม่มีเทคนิคอะไรเลย ราคาถูก (ตัวละ 14,000) เวิร์คบ้าง ไม่เวิร์คบ้าง แต่แค่ยืนยิ้มแต่มัน ทำ�ให้เราอารมณ์ดีแล้ว ผมว่าเผลอๆ คุ้มกว่า ป้ายจราจรอัจฉริยะที่บอกแต่ข้อมูลอย่างเดียว อีกนะ สิ่งที่เราทำ�กันมาตั้งแต่สมัยเด็กๆ เช่น การขูดโต๊ะเรียนบอกรักเวลาแอบปิ๊งรุ่นน้อง หรือการขีดเขียนบ้าบอในห้องน้ำ� แนวคิดใน การทิ้งข้อความไว้ในสเปซอย่างงี้ผมก็เอา มาใช้ในการออกแบบผนังให้กับ Bangkok University Creative Center (BUCC) เป็น ผนัง pixel ที่เปลี่ยนสีได้ด้วยกลไกง่ายๆ by Pitupong Chaowakul
- 21. 38 39 แค่ปีละครั้งในอ่างเก็บน้ำ� อยู่กันแบบรับผิดชอบ เมืองที่ว่ากว้าง 5x7 กิโลเมตรเลยครับ ใหญ่มากจนสามารถมีสนามบินลอยอยู่กลาง อ่างเก็บน้ำ�ได้ ผู้คนเดินทางในเมืองด้วยระบบ รถไฟในดินสันเขื่อน และผลิตไฟฟ้าและ อาหารใช้กันเองได้ในเมือง จริงๆ แล้ว การพูดถึงอนาคตด้วย Visionary Project เป็นสิ่งที่สถาปนิกทำ�กันมากว่า 100 ปีแล้ว นะครับ พวกเราไม่ค่อยมีเวลามานั่งทำ�โปรเจ็ค ชนิดนี้เพราะต้องตั้งหน้าตั้งตาหาเงินเลี้ยง ชีพกัน คนอาจจะบอกว่ามันเว่อร์แต่ผมว่า จินตนาการมีความสำ�คัญต่อการสร้างอนาคต มากเลยนะครับ มีคนบอกว่าความแตกต่าง ของนวนิยายกับความเพ้อฝัน คือสิ่งต่างๆ ในนวนิยายมันมีความเป็นไปได้ว่าจะเกิดขึ้น พรุ่งนี้ สิ่งที่ออฟฟิศต่างเสนอกันออกมาอาจ กลายเป็นจริงวันนึงก็ได้ DIN: สุดท้ายนี้อยากฝากอะไรไว้ดี “อยากให้มีอาชีพ Architecture critics มากขึ้นในเมืองไทย อยากให้การวิพากษ์ วิจารณ์งานในวงการสถาปัตย์ของเมืองไทย ให้เป็นเรื่องปกติและสร้างสรรค์ อยากให้ เราพยายามทำ�ความเข้าใจงานของกันและ กันมากขึ้น อยากให้สถาปนิกไทยพูดกัน เรื่องความคิดกันอย่างกว้างขวาง อยากให้ นักการเมืองและข้าราชการไทยเลิกโกงด้วย” มุมมองที่น่าสนใจของแจ็คคงกระตุ้นให้ เกิดความเคลื่อนไหวไม่มากก็น้อย อย่าลืม พบกับหนังสือก้อนน้ำ�ที่ Supermachine Studio มีส่วนในการจัดทำ�ขึ้นมาได้ในงาน สถาปนิก 55 นี้ ---------------------------------------------- Perhaps most people assume that the enjoyment behind creative projects by Jack, Pitupong Chaowakul, Supermachine Studio’s principal, has originated by working on innovative or distinctive designs which tend to lead the trends. In fact, Jack’s pleasure in working lies in doing what he has never done before. This, however, is not necessarily to be something anyone else has never created; stuff that keeps him away from boredom and making working life fun, explained Jack Personally, Jack reckons part of his work could act like a critique on Thai society instead of focusing solely on solving problems for the public or clients. Jack adds that architects should be increasingly focused on aquatic topics since we suffered from last year’s massive flood. Although he doesn’t believe in the end of the world argument, he agrees with Steve Jobs regarding how we treat everyday as if it’s our last day. It doesn’t matter if things you do aren’t building up for the better world but it is all about doing what you’ve never done in your life. One of his own favorite projects is The Pixel Wall at Bangkok University Creative Center (BUCC). This wall is composed of strings of colourful plastic pixels that constantly change not by mechanical control, but by letting people primitively change them with their own hands. Students are able to leave messages by turning each piece until it becomes the word they would like to convey such as “please leave your number”. This concept is derived from an old school Thai style cult in which high school secret admirers sought to carve the table of their target of affection with a love message. Thai culture is another stimulation that drives Jack’s passion in working on architecture and design. He admires the imperfection of Thai culture and environment such as street life, fresh markets or even the messy power lines which truly express the uniqueness of the Thai way of life. If possible, he wishes he could redesign all the Thai police stations to create a transparent ambience and practically serve any crimes ranged from gambling and drugs to adultery affair, and the design would be based on the function of the place rather than the respectable symbolic of policeman. Many Thai government offices nowadays waste their open space without having relevant- to-our-time usage, Jack added. One of his concerns on Thai architect’s role in society is that they are perceived as ‘house doctors’ whose ability is to solve problems for property owners and clients. Their power is reduced by the client’s brief and that could lead to a pretty simple output. On the other hand, Thai architects should be more of an influential profession who would be included in the nation’s think tank that creates critical plans for the future of our country. Currently, Jack is occupied with the book and the exhibition called “Water Brick” which is associated with ASA and cooperated with other qualified design studios and researchers. The content isn’t about how to solve the flood but it is about the aspect of water that affects humans, architecture, and cities in Thailand. The topics include how architecture could enable people to live with water, watery habitat history, and the highlight is on the architectural visions toward the future water situation. The last topic is a collaboration with five other enthusiastic offices, which Supermachine Studio’s project named “Super Bowl”, and is the newly constructed dam where a new city is located on the rand above it with some 500,000 residents. The function of Super Bowl is to pull in the water mass into the dam during overflow season and release the water out in the dry season. Rice terraces are allowed to harvest once per year while people are able to commute by metro around the rand. The area is ap- proximately 5x7 Kilometres, so large enough that we can construct an airport in the mid- dle of it. This kind of project probably sounds like fiction, but the idea of visionary projects have actually been discussed and continu- ously generated by architects elsewhere in the world for more than100 years and Jack also believes that imagination is essential for future development. His concern on architectural roles continues into the field of architecture critics which he believes should be increased in numbers. The comments should contribute to improve the work creatively and encourage people to understand different points of view. Debating on thinking concept should be openly discussed across the architectural industry. Hopefully, these interesting thoughts could trigger some positive movements in public. - 25. 46 47 Ole Scheeren สถาปนิกเชื้อสายชาวเยอรมัน ที่ไปเปิดสำ�นักงานอยู่ที่เมืองปักกิ่ง ประเทศ จีน ได้รับมอบหมายให้ออกแบบ Floating Auditorium (หอประชุมแบบแพลอยน้ำ�) เพื่อจัดฉายภาพยนต์ ในงาน Thailand’s Film on the Rocks Yao Noi’ Festival ซึ่งจัดขึ้นบริเวณอ่าวใน ปิเละ ลากูน อ่าวเล็กๆ ในเกาะคูดู จังหวัดกระบี่ ลักษณะของ หอประชุมเป็นแบบเปิด สร้างขึ้นบนแพขนาด Architecture Blah BlahOpen Cinema ใหญ่ กลางอ่าวที่เงียบสงบและรายล้อมด้วย ขุนเขาสูงสง่าโดยรอบ แนวความคิดในการ ออกแบบ เขาพรรณาว่า ได้แรงบันดาลใจ มาจากแพลอยน้ำ�ของชาวประมงที่ใช้เลี้ยง หอยนางรม/กุ้ง ถึงแม้จะเป็นภารกิจชั่วคราว ที่ใช้จัดงาน แต่ก็มีบางส่วนที่เป็นโครงสร้าง ปักลงไปบนพื้นทรายใต้น้ำ� ดูจากสภาพของ เกาะ บริเวณเวิ้งอ่าว บริเวณนั้นน่าจะ อุดมสมบูรณ์ไปด้วยปะการังและสัตว์น้ำ� โครงการลักษณะนี้ถ้าเป็นคนไทยไปจัดใน สภาพแวดล้อมอย่างนั้น คงถูกทางการ ปฏิเสธ เพราะอ้างอยู่เสมอว่าจะไปทำ�ลาย สภาพแวดล้อมของทะเล แต่พอเป็นฝรั่ง ผมสีทองทางการก็อ้าแขนต้อนรับทันที ด้วยเหตุผลที่ว่า เป็นงานระดับนานาชาติ และเพื่อชื่อเสียงประเทศชาติ ซึ่งเขาก็ให้ เหตุผลอีกแม่มุมหนึ่งว่าจะเกิดผลดีกับ ประเทศมากมาย ถ้าต้องบูรณะซ่อมแซม ธรรมชาติที่เสียหาย ก็คงไม่ใช่เรื่องใหญ่โต อะไร ไม่ช้าไม่นานธรรมชาติก็กลับสู่สภาพ เดิม จริงๆ แล้วก็ไม่อยากโทษตัวสถาปนิก เพราะเขาถูกว่าจ้างมา กอปรกับสถาปนิก เกือบร้อยทั้งร้อยก็ชอบงานท้าทายเป็น ทุนเดิมอยู่แล้ว ยิ่งเห็นสภาพของสถานที่คง อดใจไว้ไม่ได้ เรื่องทำ�ลายสภาพแวดล้อม หลายๆ คนก็ทำ�กันอยู่ จนเป็นเรื่องปกติไป แล้ว ภาพยนต์ฮอลลีวูดก็ไปถ่ายกันมาแล้ว หลายเรื่อง จัดงานครั้งนี้อีกสักครั้งจะเป็น อะไรไป Writer: นิธิ สถาปิตานนท์ Nithi Stapitananda Ole Scheeren, a Gernan-born and Beijing- based architect, was assigned to design a Floating Auditorium for Thailand’s Film on the Rocks Yao Noi Festival which took place in Phi Lae Lagoon, a small bay in Kudu island in the province of Krabi. The feature of this open-air auditorium is that it’s built on a large raft which is inspired from the floating oyster/lobster farms of fishermen, and is set amongst a secluded bay and eminent mountains. Although this is only a temporary project, some parts of the structure were planted underwater and into the sand. This kind of project would have been prohibited by Thai authorities and the locals if it was organized by Thais, due to the fact that the area is abundant with coral and marine life which should be conserved. On the other hand, the condition has been waived if the project was organized by international institutes, as they consider this as an opportunity to leverage a nation’s reputation which could bring benefits to the country. If there is some environmental damage, the authorities believed it would be easy to replenish. The blame should not be placed on the architect because he has been hired to work on the site. However, most architects love challenging tasks, and this type of geographic situation is particularly temping to work on.
