Accommodation Ratings
To assist with the selection of your accommodation we have created our own rating system allowing you to compare each property. These are personal ratings
offered by our people from their own experience and should therefore be used as a guide only. These ratings may alter throughout the year due to a change of
circumstances.
Moderate accommodation with a reasonable range of rooms and facilities, with rooms furnished to a comfortable standard.
Superior standard of accommodation with a wide range of rooms and facilities, and a higher standard of service.
First Class accommodation with an excellent range of facilities and services. Accommodation in this rating is considered among the
best in the country.
A half star is noted when the level of service and facilities falls between two grades. Grading accommodation can be quite subjective and generally speaking the
standard and services will be in line with the price paid. Please check with your travel consultant to ensure you get the accommodation to best suit your needs.
Child Policy: Please note bedding configuration varies between properties and in some cases with different room types within a property. Some hotels also offer
family bonuses and specials. Your travel consultant will help you choose the hotel to best suits you and your family’s needs.
Price Indicator: The price is provided as a guide only. The actual price may differ to that indicated in this brochure due to currency fluctuations, special events,
trade shows or peak periods. Your travel consultant will quote you the actual price at the time of booking. Per person pricing is based in New Zealand dollars.
NOTE: Queensland Apartments may vary in décor as most holiday apartments are individually owned and then leased for holiday rentals, meaning each are
individually decorated. Please also note that most apartments are serviced every 7 or 10 days and this is normally restricted to a change of towels, bed linen and
a quick clean.
Look out for our “gems” of information scattered throughout our Queensland brochure.

Shopping just got better than ever
on the Gold Coast. With Pacific Fair
enjoying a big dollar refurbishment
in 2016, its central location in the
heart of the Gold Coast (and the fact
it’s adjacent to The Star Gold Coast)
make it the most convenient hub for
a shopaholic. And let’s not forget it’s
home to Aussie’s largest Myer.
Harbour town is another goodie,
with multiple factory outlets in
one centre. As well as 20 alfresco
dining options, so you can shop
for a cheap(er) new wardrobe and
replenish your energy levels as you
go.
Then there’s Robina Town Centre,
covering a colossal 84 acres, there
are 350 retail outlets across five
uniquely themed malls: Arbour
Lane, Bazaar Street, Food Markets,
Fashion Mall (Crescent West) and
the North Mall.
Apartments are a great option,
but did you realise that most are
individually and privately owned?
Here are a few things you need to
be aware of:
The owner can choose to decorate
their own unit. They may replace
furniture or change the décor at any
time. So the apartment you end up
staying at may not look the same as
the images in our brochures.
There are many three storey
apartment blocks that have NO
LIFTS so you’ll need to carry your
own bags up-stairs.
They are serviced every 7 or 10 days
- normally restricted to a change of
towels, bed linen and a quick clean.
On check-in, you will have a small
initial supply of basic amenities but
you will need to top up soap, toilet
paper, dish liquid etc.

6 TIPSfor your
Queensland
Holiday
Discover the green behind the
gold. Few people know that the
state of Queensland is actually
more country than coastline. Great
Aussie bushwalks abound and
you definitely have your choice of
hinterland hikes. From the all-
abilities Cedar Creek Falls track to
the more challenging Cedar Creek
Falls Rock Pools with waterfalls.
Take your togs and you’ll be able to
go for a dip.
The more advanced Witches Falls
winds through dense sections
of tumbling rainforest, as well
as the namesake waterfall and a
challenging terrain of boulders and
tree roots, while the Sandy Creek
Circuits will test even the most sure-
footed tramper.
For less scenery and more
shopping, hit the villages. A great
day out for families, you’ll find
antiques, artwork, cafés and
boutique shopping.

Fitzroy Island is 45 minutes from
Cairns on the Fitzroy Fast Cat.
With rainforest, beaches and calm
sheltered water. There’s even
an ocean trampoline, for $5 per
person, you can spend the entire
day somersaulting into crystal clear
water.
Take full advantage of this watery
oasis and go snorkelling, diving
and kayaking. There are endless
places to hire gear and convenient
snorkelling locations right off the
beach, while the glass-bottom boat
tours are perfect for children not so
keen on getting wet.
Visit beaches only accessible by
kayak with a guided sea kayaking
tour, or visit the island’s turtle
rehabilitation centre; a world-class
facility for sick and injured turtles.
Educational tours are held every
day at 1pm (except Fridays) and we
recommend you book in advance.
Well obviously! This is Queensland.
But did you know for every well-
frequented seaside haunt, there’s
another far quieter beach to be
found? Mudjimba Beach is a hidden
golden nugget just across from
Maroochydore River. This oasis of
calm offers a wide open beach and
is patrolled, in parts, by lifeguards.
It’s quiet but also safe.
Shelly Beach on Caloundra’s
coastline is scattered with rock
pools bursting with sea cucumbers,
barnacles and periwinkles; perfect
if your children are fascinated by
marine life.
Off-the-beaten track, Alexandria
Bay is a long 1.2 kilometre open
bay, with golden sand and very few
beach goers. It is however, a nudist
beach, and although you probably
won’t see many people (let alone
naked ones) parents and prudes be
aware!
It is possible to observe the Great
Barrier Reef without even getting wet.
We’re serious, not even your feet!
Townsville’s Reef HQ Great Barrier
Reef Aquarium is all about helping
dedicated land-lovers stay high and
dry. This is the world’s largest living
coral reef aquarium and you can
easily spend an entire day exploring
its exhibits.
Based in Port Douglas and Cairns
in Tropical North Queensland,
Quicksilver is Australia’s most
awarded reef cruise company. They
offer two cruises, both suitable
for toddlers through to teenagers,
onboard their speedy, high-end
catamarans.
Explore Agincourt Reef, famed for
its unique reefs known as ‘ribbons’.
With an underwater observatory,
semi-submersibles, snorkelling
platforms and specially designed
introductory dive areas.

Immerse yourself into the vibrant city and friendly atmosphere of Queensland’s
capital, Brisbane. Nestled along the Brisbane River that curves its way through the
city, delight in cockatoos and kookaburras in abundance at the many green leafy
parks, before heading into the urban precincts and indulge in world-class fare at
one of many alfresco restaurants and bars overlooking the glittering Story Bridge.
If shopping is your thing, shop till you drop on Queen Street Mall – the central hub
for shopping in the city, or head over to James Street, where small boutique stores
artistically curate local and international fashion designers.
Check out Fortitude Valley for something a little different; it’s raw yet sophisticated,
where elegance and style meet grungy and offbeat. See heritage listed buildings
stand loud and proud amongst new and contemporary structures. Put on something
sensational and hit the thriving nightlife, known by the locals as Australia’s first
dedicated entertainment district.
Experience the festival buzz of South Bank, with markets, bars, restaurants and
live performances. See South Bank’s more playful side and bask in the glorious
Queensland sunshine, swim in the man-made beach or relax at the cafés, parks and
boardwalks.
With so much to see and do you’re already planning your next visit so you can
venture a little further afield, including a day trip to stunning Moreton Island. Here
you can hand-feed wild dolphins whilst enjoying an island holiday just over an
hour’s boat ride away from Brisbane.

Mellow is the only way of life on the magical Sunshine Coast, which is why many
of the locals from Brisbane choose to holiday here. Experience a laid-back lifestyle
centred around pristine beaches, freshwater rivers and lakes, subtropical forests
and warm sunshine.
Whether you’re looking for a calm sheltered swimming inlet or some waves, there
are plenty of long unbroken beaches to find a spot to lay the towel down and relax
in the sun or take to the water. There are great picnic areas available, many with
public BBQs beachside.
The Sunshine Coast is much more than just a beach holiday destination. The
hinterland of the Sunshine Coast offers a different type of relaxation, from
wandering through galleries and enjoying a coffee in a small mountain town to
reconnecting with nature at Noosa National Park – just a short walk from Noosa’s
busy shopping and dining precinct of Hastings Street.
To really stretch the legs, visit the Glass House Mountains National Park, consisting
of 16 dramatic volcanic crags and countless picturesque lookouts.
Take a drive north to Hervey Bay for the world’s closest whale watching
encounters or explore the World Heritage-listed Fraser Island – the largest sand
island in the world. An unspoilt paradise, where tall rainforests are found and
more than 100 freshwater lakes are scattered around the island, including the
famous white sand and turquoise water of Lake McKenzie.

Are you longing to escape the rat race for a week or two and embrace a
more leisurely pace of life? A week spent in the stunning Whitsundays will
feel like a month, as time slows down and your biggest decision is whether to
have another cocktail poolside or squeeze in another snorkelling trip before
dinner.
You don’t need Photoshop expertise to capture the incredible colours of the
water that surrounds the 74 Whitsundays island wonders. Tiny particles of
coral sand in the water scatter the sunlight as it enters the water, causing
that astonishing glow that will elicit sighs of envy from the folks back home
when they see your holiday snaps. The islands themselves rise up out of the
Coral Sea and are cloaked in lush rainforest – the perfect contrast to white
sand and blue water.
Don’t miss the stunning sunrise over Whitehaven Beach, considered the
jewel in the crown of the Whitsundays and regularly tops lists of the world’s
best beaches. Soak up the laid-back, tropical atmosphere of Airlie Beach.
Stroll through the boutiques and cafés of the main street, head to the
Saturday morning markets for fresh produce and at the end of the day treat
yourself at one of the many alfresco restaurants.
Whether you’re keen to set sail on a Coral Sea adventure or you prefer to
take it easy on an island or the coast, there are 74 islands which are best
explored by boat. Luckily, there are plenty of fun sailing tours to choose
from – whether you’d prefer an overnight pontoon stay or a day trip, the
choice is yours.

Whitehaven Beach – Voted Australia’s best beach (and
number 9 in the world). With squeaky white silica sand, eye-
piercing water and a spectacular backdrop, it is a must visit.
The Great Barrier Reef – The world’s largest living
structure, the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef is just
a short trip by boat or air from the Whitsundays.
Heart Reef – This is a stunning composition of coral that
has naturally formed into the shape of a heart. Located in
Hardy Reef, Heart Reef is best experienced from the air by
helicopter or seaplane, as visitors are unable to snorkel or
dive there due to its protected status.
Sailing – Be the master of your own destiny and charter a
yacht to skipper yourself, or take a cruise and let someone
else do the sailing for you. From June to September, whales
are a common sight frolicking amongst the islands.
Scenic Flights – For a bird’s eye view take in the panorama
of the Whitsundays landscape from a seaplane or helicopter,
or perhaps even a skydive!
Pampering – There’s nothing like a little indulgence on
holiday and if you happen to find yourself in a little rain
spell, it’s even better as there’s no need to feel guilty about
missing hours of sunshine while being pampered indoors.

Wild, unspoilt, and adventurous by nature, Tropical North Queensland is
home to two World Heritage-listed natural wonders and enough adventures
to tick off the bucket list for even the most seasoned traveller. This is where
rainforest meets reef, there are few places on Earth that can boast such
unique natural attractions.
The laid-back, tropical centres of Cairns and Port Douglas are major gateways
to the Great Barrier Reef, also starting points for expeditions to the Gulf of
Savannah and Cape York’s remote wilderness areas.
You’ll love the consistently warm temperatures, laid-back people and their
outdoor lifestyle. Kick back and relax on the beach, disconnect from the
world and pamper yourself at a rainforest eco-resort, perhaps spend a week
diving the reef, or race down the rapids of the Barron river, the opportunities
are endless.
From secluded island hideaways to the red sand and savannah grasslands
of the outback, the natural environment is as diverse as the cultures making
up this little slice of paradise; and it’s all here waiting for you to explore the
tropical goodness.

Tropical North Islands
How’s this for a picture-perfect holiday?
You’re floating in an aquamarine sea watching
fish swarm in and around psychedelic coral
formations, while the sun warms both your
back and the white sand. Shortly you’ll exit
the water, and resign yourself to another feast
of fresh fruit, seafood and other good things.
You probably couldn’t fit more tropical holiday
clichés in one place, but happily, a holiday in
the Tropical North Islands of North Queensland
is anything but a cliché. Spend your days
waterskiing and scuba diving or do nothing
more energetic than occasionally flopping out
of your hammock and into the pool.
Just a 45 minute Fast Cat ride from Cairns, the
island is a National Park and is the only resort
here. It’s an affordable island resort nestled
between rainforest and beach and surrounded
by a reef that forms part of the Great Barrier
Reef. This makes it an absolutely perfect base
for snorkelling, diving and exploring.
Just 27 kilometres off the coast of Cairns, this
eco-sensitive resort blends luxury, romance
and adventure located on this beautiful coral
cay. Nestled amid lush rainforest and secluded
from day visitor facilities, you’ll enjoy a host
of complimentary activities including sunset
drinks, glass bottom boat tour, snorkelling and
guided nature activities.
Beautiful and natural Lizard Island is a very
special place with 24 beaches so you’ll feel like
you’re on your own private island. Gourmet
meals are included and you’ll love the views
out to sea from the restaurant’s setting.
Snorkel or deep-sea game fish, dive at the
world-famous dive site The Cod Hole, or enjoy
a secluded picnic on one of the neighbouring
powdery white beaches.
Orpheus is a Queensland Island Resort set
in the heart of one of the World’s Natural
Wonders, the Great Barrier Reef. Just a 25
minute helicopter flight from Townsville or a 1
hour journey from Cairns, this tranquil island
stretches across 11 kilometres of immaculate
coastline.

These are personal ratings offered by our people from their own experience and should therefore be used as a guide only. These ratings may alter throughout the year due to a change of circumstances. Moderate accommodation with a reasonable range of rooms and facilities, with rooms furnished to a comfortable standard. Superior standard of accommodation with a wide range of rooms and facilities, and a higher standard of service. First Class accommodation with an excellent range of facilities and services. Accommodation in this rating is considered among the best in the country. A half star is noted when the level of service and facilities falls between two grades. Grading accommodation can be quite subjective and generally speaking the standard and services will be in line with the price paid. Please check with your travel consultant to ensure you get the accommodation to best suit your needs. Child Policy: Please note bedding configuration varies between properties and in some cases with different room types within a property. Some hotels also offer family bonuses and specials. Your travel consultant will help you choose the hotel to best suits you and your family’s needs. Price Indicator: The price is provided as a guide only. The actual price may differ to that indicated in this brochure due to currency fluctuations, special events, trade shows or peak periods. Your travel consultant will quote you the actual price at the time of booking. Per person pricing is based in New Zealand dollars. NOTE: Queensland Apartments may vary in décor as most holiday apartments are individually owned and then leased for holiday rentals, meaning each are individually decorated. Please also note that most apartments are serviced every 7 or 10 days and this is normally restricted to a change of towels, bed linen and a quick clean. • 6. 2 Shopping just got better than ever on the Gold Coast. With Pacific Fair enjoying a big dollar refurbishment in 2016, its central location in the heart of the Gold Coast (and the fact it’s adjacent to The Star Gold Coast) make it the most convenient hub for a shopaholic. And let’s not forget it’s home to Aussie’s largest Myer. Harbour town is another goodie, with multiple factory outlets in one centre. As well as 20 alfresco dining options, so you can shop for a cheap(er) new wardrobe and replenish your energy levels as you go. Then there’s Robina Town Centre, covering a colossal 84 acres, there are 350 retail outlets across five uniquely themed malls: Arbour Lane, Bazaar Street, Food Markets, Fashion Mall (Crescent West) and the North Mall. Apartments are a great option, but did you realise that most are individually and privately owned? Here are a few things you need to be aware of: The owner can choose to decorate their own unit. They may replace furniture or change the décor at any time. So the apartment you end up staying at may not look the same as the images in our brochures. There are many three storey apartment blocks that have NO LIFTS so you’ll need to carry your own bags up-stairs. They are serviced every 7 or 10 days - normally restricted to a change of towels, bed linen and a quick clean. On check-in, you will have a small initial supply of basic amenities but you will need to top up soap, toilet paper, dish liquid etc. Gold Coast greenery ShoppingQueensland Apartments 6 TIPSfor your Queensland Holiday Discover the green behind the gold. Few people know that the state of Queensland is actually more country than coastline. Great Aussie bushwalks abound and you definitely have your choice of hinterland hikes. From the all- abilities Cedar Creek Falls track to the more challenging Cedar Creek Falls Rock Pools with waterfalls. Take your togs and you’ll be able to go for a dip. The more advanced Witches Falls winds through dense sections of tumbling rainforest, as well as the namesake waterfall and a challenging terrain of boulders and tree roots, while the Sandy Creek Circuits will test even the most sure- footed tramper. For less scenery and more shopping, hit the villages. A great day out for families, you’ll find antiques, artwork, cafés and boutique shopping. © Tourism & Events Queensland
  • 7. 3 Fitzroy Island is 45 minutes from Cairns on the Fitzroy Fast Cat. With rainforest, beaches and calm sheltered water. There’s even an ocean trampoline, for $5 per person, you can spend the entire day somersaulting into crystal clear water. Take full advantage of this watery oasis and go snorkelling, diving and kayaking. There are endless places to hire gear and convenient snorkelling locations right off the beach, while the glass-bottom boat tours are perfect for children not so keen on getting wet. Visit beaches only accessible by kayak with a guided sea kayaking tour, or visit the island’s turtle rehabilitation centre; a world-class facility for sick and injured turtles. Educational tours are held every day at 1pm (except Fridays) and we recommend you book in advance. Well obviously! This is Queensland. But did you know for every well- frequented seaside haunt, there’s another far quieter beach to be found? Mudjimba Beach is a hidden golden nugget just across from Maroochydore River. This oasis of calm offers a wide open beach and is patrolled, in parts, by lifeguards. It’s quiet but also safe. Shelly Beach on Caloundra’s coastline is scattered with rock pools bursting with sea cucumbers, barnacles and periwinkles; perfect if your children are fascinated by marine life. Off-the-beaten track, Alexandria Bay is a long 1.2 kilometre open bay, with golden sand and very few beach goers. It is however, a nudist beach, and although you probably won’t see many people (let alone naked ones) parents and prudes be aware! It is possible to observe the Great Barrier Reef without even getting wet. We’re serious, not even your feet! Townsville’s Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is all about helping dedicated land-lovers stay high and dry. This is the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium and you can easily spend an entire day exploring its exhibits. Based in Port Douglas and Cairns in Tropical North Queensland, Quicksilver is Australia’s most awarded reef cruise company. They offer two cruises, both suitable for toddlers through to teenagers, onboard their speedy, high-end catamarans. Explore Agincourt Reef, famed for its unique reefs known as ‘ribbons’. With an underwater observatory, semi-submersibles, snorkelling platforms and specially designed introductory dive areas. Great Barrier Reef Fitzroy Island Beaches
