Approval
PeopleSoft has moved from the traditional workflow to the Approval
Workflow Engine. Approval Workflow Engine (AWE) also known as
Approval Framework is the framework providing capabilities to create,
run and manage the approval processes within PeopleSoft. When the
user submits a transaction, the application hands the transaction over
to Approval Workflow Engine, which will determine the appropriate
approval process definition and then launch the required routing based
on the steps configured.

PeopleSoft Update Manager provides the tools a customer needs to reduce time, effort, and the cost of PeopleSoft application maintenance. On a regular schedule, PeopleSoft will deliver the most current PeopleSoft applications code and objects in the form of a PeopleSoft Update Image on a Virtual Machine. PeopleSoft Update Manager utilizes familiar tools like Change Assistant and Change Packager and provides a way for customers to select what they want to patch to their environment. With PeopleSoft Update Manager:- Your environment does not have to be current on maintenance.- You can select a single fix and have the system automatically find the needed prerequisites to go with that fix.- You can get the current version on fixes by having the system generate a custom change package that suits the current state of your environment.
Change Assistant provides a wizard to set up the Update Manager environment by defining the source and target databases. From Change Assistant, you can access the Update Master to create a custom change package based on the fixes and enhancements selected by the customer.

PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) is a lifecycle management process that is used with the PeopleSoft Update Manager PIA application (PeopleSoft internet architecture), which runs on the PeopleSoft Image database
PeopleSoft Images are Oracle VirtualBox virtual machines that you download locally. There is one PeopleSoft Image per product family (database instance) and they will be released periodically according to the image schedule posted on the PeopleSoft Update Manager Home Page. The PeopleSoft Image is the master source environment from which you will pull the updated objects, create a custom change package, and apply updates to your environment. The PeopleSoft Image for your application is cumulative so you will download the most current PeopleSoft Image and get all of the updates that you need.
The PeopleSoft Update Manager PIA Application and the PeopleSoft Image work together; the PeopleSoft Image contains the updates and the PeopleSoft Update Manager PIA Application is the searching tool and custom change package definition generator. PeopleSoft Change Assistant orchestrates the entire process flow. Change Assistant is the tool used to analyze and compare changes, to apply the changed objects to your environment, to add in your customizations, and to generate custom change packages.

Activity guides
PeopleTools 8.53 introduces activity guides, which allow application developers to define processes that guide users through a series of predefined actions. Activity guides are often used for infrequent self-service events, such as for on-boarding processes or for benefits enrollment in PeopleSoft HCM. Other uses of activity guides include managing a sequence of configuration or troubleshooting tasks.. Similarly, several other PeopleSoft applications will deliver activity guides in Release 9.2 or in upcoming revisions. They are managed by new definitions of ADS (application data sets)
Workcenters
WorkCenters are designed for specific roles and provide a central area for users to access key components. For example, PeopleTools delivers the Integration Network WorkCenter with an activity guide to guide the setup of Integration Broker
As of PeopleTools 8.53, when navigating within a WorkCenter or from a dashboard, the breadcrumbs include the WorkCenter or dashboard link. In addition, the breadcrumbs can also include search text, related actions, and the persistent search icon. Breadcrumbs refer to the collective sequence of items that appear above the content area when you navigate to transaction pages or navigation pages. The breadcrumbs display the path you took to get to where you are—that is, the page you are on.
PeopleTools 8.53 improves the way WorkCenters and dashboards can be designed and used together. Application developers and designers can now deploy WorkCenter dashboards within WorkCenters to provide better decision support for WorkCenter transactions. This capability combines some of the features and benefits of dashboards with WorkCenter pages.

Notification Window uses the push mechanism provided by Push Notification and collates various notifications generated by the system to the window. Approval Workflow Engine (AWE) and Trigger Business Event (TBE) are some of the functional areas that will have their notifications published to the Notification Window.
