2. Question: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
3. Shots and Frames Close ups and extreme close ups allowed for us to establish “enigma codes”. These are elements of mystery presented to the audience and are important in a thriller film. By using limited shots it is unclear who the character is and where exactly he is.
4. Music Our choice of music is appropriate to the film (as detailed further in the audience vlog).
5. Pace The pace of the opening is similar to that of Memento and Panic Room... (slow paced.) For instance, we focus of the tapping for quite a while.
6. Dialogue The lack of dialogue in the opening sequence is similar to other thrillers such as Panic Room and Vertigo.
7. Titles The integration of titles are similar to that of Se7en (as detailed in our analysis video) and the style is simple as seen in most.
8. BUT!!! Because we wanted our film to stand out as an intellectual and mature psychological thriller we have included, unusually, literary elements which have only been seen in Se7en before. These are the poem by Robert Frost which is the main inspiration for the narrative as well as some aspects taken from Iain Banks’ “The Wasp Factory” which provided inspiration for the unusual ways the character takes revenge.
