2. East Lothian Waste In East Lothian last year we created 58 000 tonnes of household waste We currently recycle and compost 38% of this but that still means 62% is going to landfill Which is almost a tonne of rubbish per household every year (the weight of a large bull or a car)!

9. The energy saved from recycling one aluminium can is enough to run a TV for 3 hours. Recycling a single plastic bottle can conserve enough energy to light a 60W light bulb for up to 6 hours.
