Spain recognizes that most outbreaks of pandemic diseases occur in developing countries and then spread to other nations. Rather than blame developing countries, Spain wants to help them prepare for pandemics through planning, tracking, and preparation. Spain believes all countries should assist developing nations in pandemic preparation, as failure to do so could negatively impact other countries. Addressing this issue ethically could save lives in developing countries from both pandemics and other preventable diseases. Spain supports resolutions to help developing countries prepare for pandemic diseases.

1. <Spain><br />Position Paper:<br />By Simon Sohn<br />Honorable chairperson and distinguished delegates of all member state of the BISSMUN, Kingdom of Spain is extremely privilege to be present at this meeting. Kingdom of Spain shows a big interest to ECOSOC, especially to an issue about pandemic diseases preparation in developing countries. As a developed country, having the first patient died of swine flu in Europe, Spain expresses not little concern to pandemic diseases.<br />First of all, Spain recognized most outbreaks of pandemic diseases happened in the developing countries, and then spread to other countries. Rather than blaming those countries where the diseases occurred, Spain wants to help them with preparing for pandemic diseases. In fact, working as a member of different health organizations, Spain has been helping many developed countries with the issue so far- planning, tracking, and preparing for possible pandemic outbreaks.<br />Spain strongly believes that other nations should also help the developing countries for preparing pandemic diseases. Some countries might think that why should we help them? However, it will also affect your country in a very negative way if pandemic disease occurs. There are a lot of ways that pandemic disease can spread to other countries, and it is not 100% preventable. For instance, swine flu happened in North America spread to the US and resulted in 11,690 deaths. If we prevent pandemic disease outbreaks in advance, we can stave off all the negative effects we would get from pandemic diseases.<br />This issue can be an ethical problem. If we neglect the developing countries in bad public health, a lot of poor people will die not only by the pandemic disease, but also by the other diseases that are preventable in the developed countries. A little interest and support from us can save lives of a number of people.<br />Spain is greatly positive for helping the preparation for pandemic diseases in developing countries.
