4 PILLARS OF THE GLOBAL AGENDA
CHALLENGE TO IMPLEMENTATION
 The Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development document
has widespread global recognition.
 Its implementation in promoting social work and social development is
less obvious. The Global Agenda Implementation Taskforce provides
directions for establishing “Observatories” in different regions to
connect data and prepare reports, which can be made accessible
through conference presentations, publications and web sites of the
various associations and organizations involved.
 Lacking in this approach are opportunities for many practitioners,
educators, and other stakeholders to engage actively in implementing
the Global Agenda.
PURPOSE OF PROJECT
 To develop and implement a user-driven, web-based system
aimed at supporting implementation of the Global Agenda
by facilitating information exchange, networking and
collaboration about international social work and social
development, among educators, practitioners, and other
individuals and groups who share the vision of the Global
Agenda within Canada.
OBJECTIVES
 Support knowledge sharing and exchange in relation to the
Global Agenda;
 Promote networking and collaboration among colleagues who
share similar interests in international social work;
 Facilitate identification of potential Canadian and/or international
collaborators for future international projects;
 Help to increase global visibility of international social work
activities
DATABASE FEATURES
1. Enable users to add and update their information directly on the
website (e.g., describing activities and projects and uploading
related documents, videos and audio files).
2. Will help site users identify innovative and successful initiatives
that may be used to further education, scholarly
activities/research and practice.
3. Bi-lingual (English & French)
SURVEY DESCRIPTION
 On-line survey conducted using Survey Monkey
 197 Items
 Completion window: 10 days
 Full translation to French
 Pre-approval by UBC Behavioral Research Ethics Board

CHALLENGE TO IMPLEMENTATION  The Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development document has widespread global recognition.  Its implementation in promoting social work and social development is less obvious. The Global Agenda Implementation Taskforce provides directions for establishing “Observatories” in different regions to connect data and prepare reports, which can be made accessible through conference presentations, publications and web sites of the various associations and organizations involved.  Lacking in this approach are opportunities for many practitioners, educators, and other stakeholders to engage actively in implementing the Global Agenda.

PURPOSE OF PROJECT  To develop and implement a user-driven, web-based system aimed at supporting implementation of the Global Agenda by facilitating information exchange, networking and collaboration about international social work and social development, among educators, practitioners, and other individuals and groups who share the vision of the Global Agenda within Canada.

OBJECTIVES  Support knowledge sharing and exchange in relation to the Global Agenda;  Promote networking and collaboration among colleagues who share similar interests in international social work;  Facilitate identification of potential Canadian and/or international collaborators for future international projects;  Help to increase global visibility of international social work activities
  • 7. DATABASE FEATURES 1. Enable users to add and update their information directly on the website (e.g., describing activities and projects and uploading related documents, videos and audio files). 2. Will help site users identify innovative and successful initiatives that may be used to further education, scholarly activities/research and practice. 3. Bi-lingual (English & French)
  • 8. SURVEY DESCRIPTION  On-line survey conducted using Survey Monkey  197 Items  Completion window: 10 days  Full translation to French  Pre-approval by UBC Behavioral Research Ethics Board

DATA CATEGORIES  Contact information for user and collaborators  Involvement in international curriculum development and/or delivery (may include curriculum taught in Canada)  Involvement in international research and other scholarly activity  Involvement in international practice, advocacy or professional service  Involvement in international practicums and other exchanges  Interest in locating international partners for future international collaborations.
