Background
VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO has extended its recruitment program to India through its partner iVolunteer Overseas (iVO). More than 240 volunteers from India, Nepal and Srilanka have been placed by us across Africa and Southeast Asia on a wide range of niche projects.
What does the role involve? Myanmar is now emerging from four decades of military dictatorship. In Myanmar, VSO works in Education and in participation and governance. VSO Volunteers will be expected to model best practice participatory teaching practices to teacher trainers, for many of whom this will be a new approach. This is therefore a unique opportunity to influence teaching practice in Myanmar after many years of isolation and to have a profound impact upon the way in which teachers – and therefore children – are taught.
We are looking for teacher trainers who are able to provide in-house English language teaching to Ministry of Education (MoE) staff. The purpose is to enable Ministry staff to better engage with international education policy materials, and with international donors and other international education stakeholders; advise on the development of the integrated English language components of the diploma in education management, which VSO is working with the MoE to develop
Skills, qualifications and experience required
• You will have appropriate English Language Teaching qualifications
• A minimum of five years relevant teaching/training experience
• Experience in course design as well as in teaching
• You will also have a high proficiency in English

But most of all, as this is the vision of VSO, you're competent to seek and share knowledge.
What we offer
A contract for the duration of the placement- 12months. In terms of financial support, VSO will cover the following costs:
• Medical insurance
• One return flight to get you to, and home from, your placement
• Accommodation
• Two kinds of Volunteer allowance given monthly-Home country funded allowance (HCFA) & In-country funded allowance (ICFA) to cover your basic living expenses while overseas according to the destination country
