10. For Example… Here is a screen grab from my video and an existing video. I have collected a screen grab of Michelle “imagining” and have compared it to one of the shots in Britney Spear’s video. Looking at both pictures it’s easy to tell that both shots are doing the same thing. For example both characters have the same facial expression therefore I immediately think that they are “thinking/imagining” something. Furthermore in Britney Spears picture the frame and positioning of the student are exactly the same to Michelle’s picture. This shows how this famous video has a direct reference to our work. However I can honestly say that we weren’t influenced by Britney Spear’s video as we felt I didn’t have no relevance to our music or video. Therefore it was just a coincidence that we managed to get an identical picture.
11. For Example… This picture is totally different to the first one because we were actually influenced by the band, the video and their frame. Destiny’s Child were probably our biggest influenced in terms of presentation as a result we used a few direct references from their video into our work. For example looking at the pictures we can see that they are almost exactly the same, the only thing different is the mise en scene/setting. However looking at the picture the props, positioning and costumes are similar. For instance there are cars around in both of the frame. Furthermore there are three members in the Destiny’s Child picture and all the members are dressed differently. Now looking closely in our screen grab there’s also three members in the picture and they are all dressed differently. This is so that people can tell the difference and people can recognise that we are going for the Destiny’s Child look. Lastly watching both videos I can honestly say that in the particular parts where I took the screen grabs from, the girls in both groups/pictures act the same and walk the same during the video. So apart from Destiny’s Child look we were also influenced with their act as want to be shown as the younger Destiny’s Child.
12. For Example… This is another picture that I collected, it shows another influence by Destiny’s Child. In both picture I can see that they are both performing a routine dance. Looking carefully at the picture I can also spot that both bands are in the same position i.e. triangular status. As the main group member i.e. Beyonce and Michelle are both at the front of the triangular status. Again we purposely followed this triangular status as a lot of groups nowadays are beginning to use the same method. Another key point to both pictures is that they are actually doing a routine dance during the video. This is important to point out because its another direct reference furthermore almost all Destiny’s Child’s videos have dance routines. Therefore we had to do the same as want to reinforce a strong Destiny’s Child look in Khandi Floss.
13. For Example… This is the last picture that I’ve found that has a direct reference to our video. I can again honestly say that we intentionally used a direct reference from Soulja Boy’s video “yah trick yah” into our video. However this direct reference is different to the last two pictures because it’s from different artist. Looking at Soulja Boy’s video we got an idea that one of our rap verse should be in a classroom. This is because in Soulja Boy’s video it was shown as an urban and humorous as there are students dancing and fooling around whilst Soulja Boy is rapping. Consequently we wanted to take that and construct it into our own video. However we add our own twist as we didn’t want to seem as if we are just using other scenes in video to create our video. Therefore we made our students act differently from the way the students acted in Soulja Boy’s video. Although the picture is rather quite the same as there are two people rapping in both pictures and students in the background.
