This document presents a study on the design and simulation of shunt passive harmonic filters for a six pulse rectifier load to improve power factor and reduce harmonic distortion. The study involves:
1. Modeling the system in MATLAB/Simulink with the six pulse rectifier load.
2. Analytically designing shunt passive filters including a single tuned 5th harmonic filter, 7th harmonic filter, and high pass filter to compensate reactive power and minimize total demand distortion within limits.
3. Simulating the system with the designed filters and comparing the analytical and simulation results for total demand distortion and voltage distortion to evaluate the filter performance.
