 Inalink provides high-touch strategies to help associations
connect to their most valuable asset: their members. By
reaching out to members prior to association-wide votes,
Inalink can ensure that key policies require the membership
backing needed for adoption. Such high-touch approaches
combined with online voting can lead to high membership
engagement in association elections.
In recent years, as technology adoption has expanded rapidly,
more associations have migrated membership engagement
functions, including voting, online. According to a 2013 survey
by Votenet Solutions, 50 percent of surveyed associations
used online voting exclusively, with 30 percent using a
combination of online and paper balloting.
 Despite the widespread convenience of online voting,
organizations still reported low rates of membership
participation in elections, and smaller organizations
saw a higher percentage of members voting than
larger organizations.
Since members may not personally know election
candidates or be familiar with motions put forward by
the board, personalized outreach may be essential to
gain higher voter turnout. For essential measures,
associations should consider high-touch calling
campaigns to ensure that they receive enough
member participation to move forward with key goals.
