people who lived in Brockworth (the local village), but it has

14. WHAT ARE THE OFFERINGS?
Families create offerings to honor their departed family members that have
passed. These altars are decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos
of the departed, and the favourite foods and drinks of the one being honored.

32. HISTORY
Oktoberfest began as a wedding celebration more than 200 years ago when Bavaria’s
Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on Oct. 12,
1810. The wedding was celebrated with multiple days of drinking, feasting and horse
races.
The celebration then became an annual event.
33. HIGHLIGHTS
WIESNWIRTE ARRIVE:the parade is led by the
Münchner Kindl, followed by the mayor of Munich.
This is followed by the decorated horse carriages and
floats of the breweries and the carriages of the other
restaurateurs and showmen. The music bands from
the beer tents accompany the parade.
34. BEER BARREL TAPPING: after the parade of the restaurateurs on
carriages from downtown to the festival grounds, at exactly 12:00 clock
the lord mayor opens the first beer barrel in the Schottenhammel tent.
With the initial pass and the exclamation "O'zapft is!" ("It's tapped!")
the Oktoberfest is declared as opened.
35. COSTUME AND RIFLEMEN PARADE:Since 1950, this parade is
organized annually and has become one of the highlights of the
Oktoberfest and one of the world's largest parades of its kind. On the
first festival Sunday, 8000 participants march in the parade in their
historic festival costumes from the Maximilianeum on a seven kilometer
stretch to the festival grounds

Only beer brewed within the city limits of Munich and conforming to the
Reinheitsgebot, can be served at the Munich Oktoberfest. They are
Spatenbrau,Paulaner, Lowenbrau and others

Beltane fire festival is a
tradicional event in Scotland.
Festival stars on 31st April and it
finishes on 1st May. This
happens in Calon Hill, Beltane.

This comes from a celt tradition. It
indicated star of summer. People
carried the cattle to mountain
pastures. In the ceremony, they
made bonfires and they sang and
danced around them.
