Thesis: The original Karate Kid is an entertaining, well-made movie.
P.O.C.: This movie is clean with funny parts, and it has great lessons.

A. This movie is clean, and it has funny parts.
1. The movie is rated PG, mostly because it of the fighting. It won the 1985 Best Family Motion
Picture.
2. A funny part from the movie is when Daniel catches the fly with chop sticks right away, when
Mr. Miyagi was trying to for a longer time
B. This movie has great lessons about trust, persistence, respect for your elders, and that there is
more than fighting to solve an answer.
1. Daniel keeps coming back to Mr. Miyagi, even though he feels like he is doing chores instead of
actually learning martial arts, but he trusts and respects Mr. Miyagi so he keeps coming back.
2. Mr. Miyagi keeps telling Daniel that fighting is not the answer.
C. Counterarguments are that it Daniel does swear and this movie is predictable.
1. Daniel does swear, but it is to show that he comes from a bad neighborhood.
2. The movie is predictable, but it seems Americans love the underdog to win.
