Born with a silver spoon to an industrialist father and
affectionate mother, Manish belongs to the royal clan of
Marathas of Maharashtra. Being the youngest in the family
taught him tolerance and patience. Until the seventh
standard, he used to be a topper. However, due to student-
teacher politics, he suffered a lot until matriculation. But he

Failing in standard tenth was, on the one hand, a big bang

A Self-Made Stalwart
After his failure in matriculation, Manish started working in
a hotel and worked hard for two years, understanding the
business and earning money for his education
simultaneously, studying commerce. A couple of years later,
he started his own hotel ‘Matoshree.’ This sprout has
eventually grown into a big tree of seven chains of hotels.
When Manish enrolled into the Five Year Law course, he
had to juggle between his career and education. However,
he did manage to become successful in both. According to
the Advocates Act, in India, the Lawyer cannot run any
other business in their name. Therefore, after getting his
“Bar Council Sanad,” he handed over the hotel business to
his elder brother.
Afterwards, Manish started practising Law in the District
Court of Pune and Bombay High Court, respectively. After
six months of practice, he got a scholarship and a chance to
study for his Master of Law in the United Kingdom.
Spreading Wings Internationally
The United Kingdom gave him International exposure,
which proved to be a boon in enhancing his career and
understanding of international law. He became the students’
representative in his University. Solving the problems of
fellow students made him aware of his problem-solving
skills and also trained him to be a social activist. Already,
he was learning human rights at his core. Therefore, he was
very well aware of the fact that there are many things in this
world which needs to be solved by initiating human
development by ensuring the security and safety of human
beings by using the yardstick of human rights promotion
and protection.
Therefore, immediately after completing his Master of Law
in Human Rights from England, he formed an NGO, United
