Third attempt to start a Rotaract Club in St Andrews
3. Purpose

Bridge between local community and students
Help Rotary with own events
Offer membership continuity for overseas Rotaractors
Create an alternative platform for action
Socialize and raise money for charity
My initial vision: 16,000 residents, 8,000 students; lack of communication - inherent tensions
Rotary: more conservative in approach - given past experiences
Rotary - founded 1928, club with a rich tradition rooted within the local community
Get people’s interest
Decline of Rotaract as a brand as well as organization
Reflected in membership: Mostly attracted Germans, E Europeans and North Americans
Rotary - very generous starting fund
Rotary - active and well known within the local community
Initial purpose - raise our status & raise money

Visits & outings to old people homes
1-2 wine & cheese/semester
Formal meetings, dinner/work meetings; informal meetings
