This lesson plan focuses on teaching students about the history of al-Andalus and the Alhambra during its heyday using interactive methods. The lesson begins with a warm up using pictures on the SMART Board to engage students' prior knowledge. Then, students will watch a documentary on the rise and fall of Islamic Spain, learning about the founder Abdularrahman III and other important information. In subsequent lessons, students will ask and answer questions about the documentary, then summarize the history of al-Andalus and Alhambra and compare it to another contemporaneous civilization.
