This document summarizes a study on stormwater management in Pimpari Chinchwad city in India using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It finds that rapid urbanization and increased impervious surfaces have led to a 60% increase in surface runoff over the past two decades. This increased runoff is overwhelming the city's drainage system and causing more frequent urban flooding. The study uses GIS to analyze land use/land cover change over time and identify vulnerable flood-prone areas. It proposes sustainable stormwater management techniques like retention ponds, infiltration trenches, and pervious pavement to reduce runoff and curb future flooding in the city.
