2. What is the King Cake?
• It is a cercle or oval shape cake.
• It’s made of brioche mass.
• It’s decorated with sweet fruits.
• You also can find a crown and some sweets in
the hole of the cake.
3. Tradition of the King Cake
• The Tortell de Reis is traditional in Catalonia on
Epiphany Day (6th of January). We have a meal
with our family.
• In the cake there are some figures and the
bean. One of the figures is a King another a
bean.
• The tradition tells: If you find the figure of the
King, the paper crown is yours. If you find the
bean, the next year you must pay the cake.
5. Ingredients:
First part of the mass:
• Compressed Leavening.
• Water.
• Flour.
Second part of the mass:
• Sugar.
• Fat.
• Flour.
• Salt.
• An egg.
• Lemon peel.
• Water.
6. Stuffed (Ingredients)
• Cream: egg white, milk and sugar.
• Catalan Cream: vanilla cane, yolk, an egg,
sugar, flour and milk.
• Spaghetti squash: pumpkin, cinnamon stick,
sugar and lemon peel.
• Marzipan: almond powder, sugar and water.
