5. About IEEE Xtreme
1) An international competition organised annually by IEEE
computer society.
2) Student members of ieee from all round the world take part in
it.
3) It’s a 24 hour challenge .
4) Problems can only be answered in any of the supported
languages (C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Ruby, Perl, and PHP).
5) Leader board will show you your exact position as you solve
the problems.

6. Is it Extreme programming?
• Google’s definition says its something…. About
software development methodology.

7. 1st and 2nd year students ask ?
I’m in my first/second year of university and don’t
think I’m good enough. Should I participate?
• Yes.
• taking advanced courses does not mean you’re
necessarily better at programming.
• More importantly, this is all about the
experience. IEEEXtreme is a lot of fun, and will
help you face real-world problems that you may
not see during college.

8. How IEEE xtreme is fun?
• Time management.
• Drinking 5-10 cups of coffee to keep you into
competition till last.
• Interacting with other groups.
• Building some great solutions to real world problems.
• Selfies and group pics are posted during competition all
round the world on facebook.

9. scoring
• Simply put, if you solve a problem correctly, you get 20 points. You can
gain 80 extra points depending on how difficult the problem is. The
difficulty of any problem comes from how many other teams solved the
same problem. If a lot of other teams solved the same problem that
means the problem is easy and you will not get extra points on it.
However, if you and few other teams solved a problem that means the
problem is very hard and your team deserves more points on it.
• This way, we advise you not to share your solution with other teams,
because it will harm your score.
• Note: Time is not included in the scoring formula. So take your time and
solve the problem Correctly..

10. prizes
1st place- The winning team members will receive an expenses-paid trip to an IEEE
conference of their choice, anywhere around the world.
2nd place- Each member of the team that wins 2nd place in the IEEEXtreme 8.0
competition will receive an iPad with Retina Display.
3rd place - Each member of the team that wins 3rd place in the IEEEXtreme 8.0
competition will receive an iPad Mini.
4th-10th place: Each member of a team will receive an iPod shuffle.
Top 100: The top 100 placed teams at the end of the competition will receive a special
IEEEXtreme 8.0 gift bundle.
