  1. Good morning lady and gentleman, My name is Supachai Skawsang. I’d like to present to you a research about Geo- Informatics Technology for Land Suitability in Growing Certain Crops. However, this research is now on-going.
  2. As you know the land resource is a limited resources including rapid population growth, urban expansion and the mismanagement of land. these issues are effected on suitable land use planning. Anyway with the advent of Geo-informatics technologies, the integration of land qualities in land evaluation for land suitability are effectively accomplished by using them, These are crucial reasons that why we interesting to do a research in this topic.
  3. This study aims to model the integration of land qualities to evaluate land, based on FAO guideline, taking into account both socio-economic consideration and the conservation of environment resources for future use
  4. There are two problem definitions in this research First is where are the areas to which it is best suited? Individual land suitability map can be used for answer this problem Second one is For a given area of land , what is the most suitable use? Integrated land suitability map can be used for answer this problem
  5. We expect to obtain a Geo-Informatics database of land suitability in growing certain crops and land suitability map in both individual and combined crops
  6. For the conceptual framework, land quality assessment and socio-economic are independence variable by using the Geo-informatics for modeling analysis tool, while the Individual and Combined Land Suitability Map are dependence variables Geo-Informatics Technology can be effectively applied to handle such kinds of work and to complete study objectives
  7. The study area is lopburi province. It is located in central part of thailand and its area about 6650 sqkm. Most of area is formed by flat to gently undulating and strong topography. Land cover consists of different forest type for example dipterocarp, deciduous and evergreen forest and several economics crop such as corn rice cassava to name but a few.
  8. Considering about research methodology, we start from defined the land utilization type and then, we established a GIS database from crop requirementsand soil-water conservation. After that these data will be analyzed in suitability model to create land suitability map. In the same time, we use Economics and Social data to provide the land suitability in economic aspect also and finally, we will validate this model with Existing Land Use Map and Ground survey
  9. For the crop requirements, we use weather stations to generate an annual rainfall and mean temperature layers, we use soilgroup layer to create soil drainage, nitrogen, phosporous, potassium, CEC, Base Saturation, Soil depth and soil reaction, furthermore slope layers can be generated from DEM, finally these all output layer will be form to crop suitability by using overlay technique.
  10. In part of soil and water conservation, we use universal soil loss equation for soil erosion map.
  11. This is factor rating table in each crop
  12. Economic and social data will be use to support the suitability in term of cost/benefit analysis
  13. Existing land use map from satellite image and ground survey will be use to validate the model by using error matrix
