27. It’s time to call a Spade a Spade
• The Sindh High Density Development Board Act is not in the best
interest of the Karachi and the other cities of Sindh.
• The Sindh High Density Development Board is serves no purpose but
to facilitate and further the real estate interests of select parties.
• Its concentrates too much discretionary power without oversight in
the hands of a few selected individuals.
• It does address the large-scale planning problems of Karachi. Rather it
will create concentrations of severe urban congestion.
• It largely excludes the planning and architectural communities.
• It does not address the needs of the vast majority of the citizens of
Karachi.
• It will create huge infrastructure and environmental problems for the
urban areas of the province.
• Its provides little or no recourse for the public.
• It will never yield a “World-Class City.”
28. • It is time to realize the futility of trying to work with the Sindh High
Density Development Board.
• To recognize the vested intent of the legislation.
• To realize that the Architects’ Committee only provides unwarranted
legitimacy to the actions of the Board.
• To realize that to be an self-invited, advisory committee is an invitation
to be ignored.
• And to join civil society in opposing it in all respects.
