SHAH WALIULLAH’S
BIOGRAPHY 
 Shah Waliullah was born in 1703 at the time of Aurangzeb 
rule in India 
 His real name was Qutu-bud-din 
 But he was named Shah Waliullah because of his pity 
 His father name was Shah Abdus Rahim who was the 
founder of Madressa-e-Rahimiya 
 His father wrote a Fatwa-e-Alamgiri a book of shariat. 
This book became the law book at the time of 
Aurangzeb’s rule
EDUCATION: 
Shah Waliullah had learned the Holy Quran by 
heart 
Shah Waliullah had studied Fiqah Hadith and 
Tafseer 
When he was 17 year old he started teaching at 
Madressa-e- Rahimiya after which he went to 
Saudi Arabia for higher education. Where he 
was inspired by a scholar Sheikh Abu Tahir Bin 
Ibrahimnd 
While in Saudi Arabia he saw a vision of the 
Holy Prophet and he was told that he would be 
instrumental in organizing the Muslim of India at 
this point the Mugal rule was declining, and the 
Muslims were not united as the leader were 
weak and the people needed Islamic guidance
SOCIAL CONDITION IN MUSLIM OF 
INDIA 
The Muslim of India did not 
understand the Quran because it was 
written in Arabic 
Shia‘s and Sunni were posing threat to 
each other 
In capable ruler in empire with Non 
Muslim gaining power 
Shah Waliullah wanted the people to 
understand that Islam not only restrict 
for namaz and roza but it’s a complete 
code of life. As it deal with politics, 
economic, social.
CONTRIBUTION OF SHAH 
WALIULLAH 
Religious contribution 
Shah Waliullah came back from Saudi Arabia to Delhi in 
1733 
He started preparing students so they could teach other 
He asked people to give up luxuries and lead a simple life 
His approach was very balanced 
One of the biggest achievements was the translation of Holy 
Quran from Arabic to Persian 
Few Muslim spoke Arabic in India but did not understand 
their meaning after his translation they understood better 
Many ullimas criticized shah Waliullah but his work became 
very popular in Muslim 
He wrote 51 books, two of his famous books are Hajjatul- 
Baligha (Islamic law) and Izzalatul akfa (To solve problem ) 
He said that traders should use fair mean in trading 
He explained the importance of jihad 
He wanted all men to be treated equal and not treated by his 
occupation
POLITICAL CONTRIBUTION 
 Shah Waliullah had great wisdom and foresight 
and the Muslim, ruler were weak as the Mugal 
empire was weak 
 He wrote many letters to many nobles and to Unite 
and help the Muslim of India 
 He was able to convince Ahmed Shah Abdali. 
Ahmed shah joined hands with the local Muslims 
and able to defeat Marathas in the battle of 
participant in 1761 
 Shah wanted Ahmed shah to stay but Ahmed shah 
went away
IMPACT( INFLUENCE) 
 He was the first thinker who could see that Mugal 
Empire would decline but due to his effort the 
Mugal empire survived another century 
 Madrassa –Rahimia continued to train student 
and was at very active in research work of Islam 
 The translation of the Holy Quran inspired the 
Muslim to follow the right path 
 The shie sunni problem were fixed to an extend 
 The Muslim realized that jihad cannot be declared 
on an other Muslim because jihad mean to fight 
the enemies of Islam 
 His sons continued to teach after his death 
 His Madrassa continued to inspire people 
 He is know as the father of modern Muslim, because 
of a balanced approached 
 He died in 1762
