The Great Depression was caused by the stock market crash of 1929. People were buying stocks on margin and when everyone started selling, millions lost their fortunes. Many banks closed, causing people to lose their homes and live in tents. Shirley Temple was a famous child star during this era who appeared in films and on television to lift people's spirits. FDR introduced the New Deal programs to provide relief, recovery, and reform to help the country get out of the depression.
2. The Great Depression all started when the stock
market crashed. It was a terrible time.
Everybody was buying stocks on margin. All at
once everyone sold their stocks. Millionaires lost
fortunes! Many of the banks closed. The Great
Depression made people loose houses and have
to live on the street in tents!

4. During the Great Depression many people lost their
homes. Some effects was that the lady in the picture
sold her car tires for food for her children. Many people
lost billions. Many people started to sell their stocks at
one time so the prices fell. It was like an ongoing roller
coaster once somebody lost their money they shut down
their store and the employees were fired. The great
depression made many effects on America .

5. The Wizard of Oz has become, over the
years, one of the best known of all films. It is
far the best-known version of Frank Baum's
book, perhaps even eclipsing the fame of the
novel itself. The Wizard of is Based on the
1900 children's novel, The Wonderful Wizard
of Oz musical fantasy film.

6. New Deal laws and regulations affected
banking, the stock
market, industry, agriculture, public works
relief for the poor, and conservation. These
new laws affected America greatly. The new
deal focused on what historians call the "3
Rs": Relief, Recovery, and Reform. That
is, Relief for the unemployed and poor;
Recovery of the economy to normal levels;
and Reform of the financial system to
prevent a repeat depression.

7. The Credit Crunch is a reduction in the general
availability of loans or a sudden tightening of
the conditions required to obtain a loan from the
banks. A credit crunch generally involves a
reduction in the availability of credit
independent of a rise in official interest rates. In
such situations, the relationship between credit
availability and interest rates has implicitly
changed, such that either credit becomes less
available at any given official interest rate, or
there ceases to be a clear relationship.

8. Fala was president F.D.R.’s dog. Fala was born on April 7, 1940 and
given as a present to FDR by Mrs. Augustus Kellogg. Fala arrived at the
White House on November 10, 1940.
As a puppy, Fala had been originally named "Big Boy," but FDR was soon
to change that. Using the name of his own 15th century Scottish
ancestor , FDR renamed the dog "Murray the Outlaw of Falahill, which
became shortened to "Fala."
Roosevelt loved the little dog. Fala slept in a special bed near the
President's feet and was given a bone in the morning and dinner at
night by the President himself. He wore a leather collar with a silver
plate that read, "Fala, the White House."

9. Thedepression lasted from January to July
1921,so in that time period kids had to get
jobs. Many jobs would be migrant farmers or
working for a newspaper. Many younger kids
had to eat in soup kitchens after school. I
would have not liked to be a child during the
great depression.
