INTRODUCTION Jabber is an open standard communication protocol (XMPP), as well as an enterprise-level communications solution from Cisco. The Jabber integration lets you collaborate with anyone on IBM Notes by exchanging instant messages or making audio and video calls. The Jabber integration achieves this by integrating IBM Notes with Jabber SDK for Web, i.e. Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Unified Presence(CUP). FEATURES AND CAPABILITIES The Jabber integration comes as a IBM Notes plugin that allows Cisco Jabber features to be accessed contextually from IBM Notes. By extending Presence, Instant Messaging and Call functionality to IBM Notes, users can leverage the power of Cisco Unified Communications technologies without having to leave their Notes client. Voice, video, and conference calls are fully supported, as well as Instant Messaging including persistent chat rooms. You can start a chat session with several contacts from your social network simultaneously and Jabber will keep each conversation in a separate tab within the chat pop-up. You can close or minimize the chat window at any time without losing track of the conversation: receiving a new instant message will open it again if it was closed or pop it up if was minimized. The Jabber integration also provides you with the ability to start a chat session with more than one participant. You can create a new chat room and invite participants from his or her contact list. The chat room appears as a new contact in the Jabber contact list, so you can access it even after the chat window has been closed. The chat room exists until its owner closes it. You can start a voice or video call to anyone by pressing the “click-to-call” button on their profile. You can also dial a phone number directly using Jabber's dialer keypad. This allows you to contact people who are not on your Jabber contact list. The Jabber integration supports IBM LiveNames and LiveText, which extend Jabber’s contextual presence and communication options (Click-to-Chat and Click-to-Call) to any username or username input field within IBM Notes. Setting up meetings within the Notes Calendar and adding Personal Contacts will highlight the username as it is being typed.
