How i developed conventions of real media products
1.
2. For my contents page I used a unique layout using NME as a style model as they focus on
the same genre of music as my own magazine. I therefore developed conventions by
taking ideas from NME and developing them to produce an effective, unique contents of
my own. I used conventions such as an ad for subscription and the layout of images and
quotes however I challenged it with much more colour, features and fonts.
3. However the this contents page shows a
much more conventional layout which I
challenged by using a more unique
layout. I decided to deviate away from a
much more conventional layout as I
found several images are much more
effective from my audience research. As
magazines are read in short bursts I also
felt I must not use large blocks of texts
which is why I used short effective
quotes. However I did use conventions
from this conventional page by the bold
sub-heading such as “NEWS.” I also used
conventions such as page numbers with
different font colours.
4. From my own product and NME’S above I evidently developed conventions by the use
of layout features. I used a conventional, bold quote from my aritsit as I found in
professional magazines this is effective in portraying an ego of the artist. I also
developed conventions by using a strapline in the centre of the article as well as a
leading introduction at the beginning of the article. I realised I must use theses
conventions in order to produce a professional, effective double page spread. I also
used a second image in a different style which is also a typical convention/
