2. Gabriela Guganovic is a photographer from Hungary.
She currently lives and works in Chicago. While her
portfolio of work encompasses more than just
portraiture, her most inspiring project is her “Portrait
of a Woman as a Mother” series. This series looks at
the struggle between individuality and motherhood.
Gabriela chose to photograph these women alone
with their children in order to depict this inner
conflict. As a mother, I can relate to these images and
am drawn to the story of absolute strength that it
takes to be a women in the social role of mother.

4. Berta Vicente is a young photographer from
Barcelona. The is a gentle soulful quality to her
images. Her subjects are often close friends and
family, as she believes that the personal
relationship between photographer and subject
is a requirement of a successful image. This
concept is apparent in her images and is what I
find most appealing about her work.

6. Paul Apal’kin is a Russian photographer
whose work embodies a dream-like
feminine quality. His use of light really
captivates his audience, allowing for soft
feminine lines. His backgrounds are
simple allowing the subject to tell the
story.
