programs and services offered at the Brantford General
Hospital and the Willett in Paris
! Tonight I’m talking about the Foundation – the fundraising
partner for the system
! I’m not talking about the future of the Willett in Paris – that’s a
good discussion for another time

Together we are transforming healthcare in our community. Every Dollar Counts!

Independent organization dedicated to:
1. Raising awareness of the gap in funding
2. Communicating the needs in the system
3. Engaging the community and raising money
4. Managing donor dollars with accountability and responsibility
What is the BCHS Foundation?

! Joined the board as a volunteer in 2010
! Appointed to the Executive in 2012
! Served as Chair from January 2015 to June 2016
! Currently Past Chair
! Also cross appointment to the BCHS Hospital Board as non-
voting member
What’s my connection?

I was searching for:
1. Something just for me with no connections to anyone else
2. A way to use my board governance skills
3. A brand new area of learning
What’s in it for me?

1. Volunteers who care about healthcare in our community
2. People with skills in business, legal, government all with
community connections
3. Diverse representation of the community
4. Gap matrix system for recruitment
5. Six year term
Our Volunteer Board

! The Foundation provides money to:
1. purchase medical equipment and capital expenditures that are
not paid for by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care,
2. provide essential resources to maintain the exceptional level of
compassionate patient care,
3. invest in new and innovative technology, and
4. handle emergency repairs
Government spending isn’t enough!

Just over $21.7million raised
