7. Australia is the biggest island and smallest conOnent. It is a country of many
cultures because a mix race of people live there. There are many aboriginal people,
Caucasians and Chinese immigrants. English is the most spoken language, the
second is Chinese because of the large Asian populaOon.
Because Australia is mostly a big island, there are a lot of beaches. Everyone likes to
go to the beach on weekends and almost everyone knows how to swim. On the
beach they sun tan and play volleyball. Surfing and sailing are common sports in
Australia, everyone likes them. They also like to eat BBQ meat, some authenOc
Australian BBQ eats kangaroo, emu and shark meat. There are free grills for people
to use in parks near the beach.
Cricket is also an important and favorite sport. Australia compete against India and
Pakistan in cricket matches.
A special holiday in Australia is Anzac’s day (April 25th) when they celebrate the
courage of Australian soldiers that died in World War 2. They have a big army
parade at dawn and have an army veterans march.

9. Canada is also a mulO‐cultural country on top of USA. There are also aboriginal
people living in Northern Canada named the Inuits. Most of the populaOon in
Canada are in the south. There are a lot of Chinese and Indian immigrants in
Canada. There is a small porOon of Canada that is French‐canadian in the province
of Quebec. They’re main language is French while everywhere else is English.
The weather in Canada in most places is very cold except summerOme. People like
to playing ice hockey and skiing. On weekends families like to go hiking of camping
together because there are many forests in Canada.
A special type of police force that Canada is famous for is the Royal Canadian
Mounted Police (RCMP). It is the official police force in Canada. There is a special
uniform they have to wear. On Canada Day on July 1st, the RCMP march in parades
while riding horses.
A favorite food in Canada is pouOne, which is gravy and cheese covered french
fries. Everyone of all ages like to eat it. another famous food is maple syrup.
Canadians like to eat maple syrup in the morning with pancakes.

11. Chile is the most skinniest country in the world. It is located in South America.
The main language is Spanish but english is also taught in schools. Many of the
teenagers in Chile play an instrument and are in a band. Music is a big part of
the teenager’s lives. Almost all families own a pet; the most average pet is a
dog or a cat.
On weekends they like to go to movies and ice skaOng. Near the coasts, some
people like to go the beach to relax. The beach is one of the most favorite
places in the summer.
On the naOonal day on September 18th, people like to gather to have a big BBQ
and fly kites. They also eat empanadas and drink chicha. Empanadas are a
pastry filled with meat, chest and vegetables. Chicha is like grape juice but has
alcohol in it.
The tradiOonal clothing for the girls are called chinita, they are flower
paderned dresses with an apron. Boys wear ponchos which is a piece of thick
cloth that is worn over the head.

13. Ethiopia is a country on the east side Africa. It’s main language is Amharic, english
is not spoken widely there. Many people there are ChrisOan or Muslim and they
celebrate many religious holidays. There are many different tribes in Ethiopia.
Coffee is a very important source to make money for most of the populaOon. It is
said that coffee beans originated in Kaffa, Ethiopia. Drinking coffee is a leisure that
Ethiopians take a long Ome enjoying.
The main food in Ethiopia is a type of spongey bread called injera. They are usually
eaten with a chicken stew called Doro Wat using hands. Another tradiOonal dish is
kifo that is raw minced beef heated and marinated in a spicy chili powder. They
also eat this with the injera bread.
There are usually five or six children in the family, the whole family tries to work to
earn money usually through farming. In their spare‐Ome, Ethiopians like to play
football or dance. They play a big hand drum called the kebero and like to listen to
more tradiOonal music.

19. India is a country in the east of Asia. Hinduism and Buddhism originated here.
The main language in India is Hindi but because it is so big, there are many
other regional languages like China.
India has their own movie industry called Bollywood. Cricket and Bollywood
are very important to Indians. Young and old like to watch Bollywood movies
and play cricket. The biggest river in India called Ganges is very important
because people bathe, wash and play in this river. It is like how Yellow River
and ChangJiang river is important in China.
The average family size is 4 people but extended families like to live together.
Girls wear saris which is a silk dress and scarf that is very colorful. Boys wear
light colored tunics.
One very fun fesOval is called Holi celebrated in the beginning of spring. During
this fesOval in March of every year, people throw colored water at each other
and cook sweets to eat. They think spring is very colourful so they throw colors
at each other welcoming spring.

21. Japan is made out of main islands on the coast of central Asia. The
weather and people are different from the north to south. The north of
Japan is very cold in winter but it great for skiing while the south is more
warm weathered and for swimming at the beach.
The main food eaten is rice and seafood because Japan is an island.
Children like to someOmes put more flavor into their rice by pukng
seasoning packets onto the top of the rice. The seasoning is mostly
made up of sesame seeds and seaweed. Miso soup also is eaten
everyday in the morning or at dinner. Sushi, is usually eaten at dinner or
as a quick lunch. It is usually small balls of rice topped with raw fish,
vegetable or cooked sweet egg then wrapped with seaweed.
Japanese people are very sporOve. Most Japanese students are very
good at playing badminton and volleyball. Soiball is a sport, which
mostly boys like to play. Everyone in their free Ome like to go to karaoke
with friends as a hang out place.

23. Qatar is a very small country in the Middle East. Three fourths of the people
living in Qatar are immigrants going there for jobs, only one quarter of the
people are actually Qatari, around 600,000 people. The main religion in
Qatar is Islam, like most of the Middle East. they live near the sea, they like
to eat a lot of fresh seafood. They also like to eat rice and chicken, one of
the dishes they like to eat is called machboos that is rice with meat.
Qatari families are big, with 4 or 5 children. Extended families also are very
close, most of the children’s friends are also their relaOves. In their spare
Ome, they like visit extended families, go to the desert or beach. Girls like to
put on henna, it is a plant which is made into a paste which then dyes into
the skin. They used this paste to draw paderns on the body.
Women in Qatar wear long dresses called abaya with viels. Men wear white
tunics and with a scarf on their head. Children usually wear casual clothing.
These clothing help protect their eyes from the sand.

25. Singapore is a very mulO‐cultural country. Long Ome ago, people from many
other Asian countries came and lived in Singapore. They main types of
Singaporeans are Chinese, Malay and Indian. Chinese singaporean takes up
75% of Singapore. Even though they look different, everyone believes they are
the same as a whole. Because of the different amount of people in Singapore,
they celebrate many different countries’ holidays. They celebrate holidays
such as Chinese New Year, Deepvali (an Indian fesOval) and Christmas. The
main languages are English, Mandarin, Malay, and Hindi.
The main food eaten in Singapore is rice or noodles. Teenagers and children
like to drink many canned drinks, not only sodas but also fruit juice and
others. One of the famous dishes is the Hainanese Chicken rice and the Chili
pepper crab.
Cleanliness is very important in Singapore, there is a strong law against
lidering. Not following anyone of the laws result in very big fines of money.
Younger children also must be polite and generous towards the older
generaOons.
