Amy Anyone know how they got in to this room? Anyone make a conscious decision to be here? What was it? (Hear from 3) We’re glad you came to us. We’ve invited you here with one ambition to convert and recruit, similar to a cult. (the doors are locked!) At the beginning of this year we started something. We started a group called Disruptive Social Innovators, DSI, Disruptors, I can see some familiar faces in the audience. As social innovators ourselves we wanted to have some people to bounce ideas off and collaborate with. The Disruptors are people who want to challenge the system as a whole, not just a single output of it, We would like to say that we new that we were about to face a crunch of economy of the scale we are now witnessing. In truth we didn’t, we did however sense that an environmental and emotional crunch was going to hit us,. Unfortunately sometimes numbers speak louder than physical or emotional changes that are to complex for us to always quatify. We hoped at the least this group would come together and help each other through the challenges they faced as Disruptive Social Innovators, secretly we had aspirations that we would collectively up our game, start to think bigger and provide tools and curiosity for systems thinking. Before I go on, let me talk a bit about Disruptive Innovation. (NUMBER OF STORIES) So you get the idea of disruptive innovation, imagine how much more important exciting it is in the social context. Blind innovation can lead to blow outs elsewhere in the system and when we are interested in aggregate gains across the system . No good to ship second hand clothes to countries that are poor to allow them to cloth themselves if you undermine a potential local cloth making industry.
