Threaded Perspective Boxes
TASK:
You will be creating a composition of at least (6) one-point perspective boxes from varying
viewpoints and then using a “thread” of your choice you will connect all the boxes by “piercing” the
cubes. Be creative with your interpretation – maybe the boxes and thread aren’t boxes and thread
at all!
STEPS:
Participate in a demonstration of perspective line and shape drawing
Complete perspective drawing take home activities as practice
Brainstorm and research possible “threading” concepts (at least 4). Go beyond the obvious, be
creative, this is your chance to be as crazy and inventive as you want!
Choose your best design and begin drawing (in light pencil), choose a vanishing point, and ALL
cubes must be drawn to that one point!
Use a regular pencil, begin rendering your drawing, making sure that all cubes are drawn in
correct perspective and make sure to use your reference images when drawing your “thread”.
Use colored pencils and/or markers to add
color to your drawing. Make sure to consider
the different values that the sides of cubes
etc. will have!
Last – be conscious of time – we will only
dedicate TWO full class periods to this project.
Remember: ALWAYS CONSIDER the
ELEMENTS of ART and
PRINCIPLES of DESIGN!!!!
This project will see how well you can
apply perspective drawing skills with
observational and value drawing skills we
have learned so far this year. You will be
creating a composition of one-point
perspective boxes and “thread” them
together through the use of creative
design concepts.
2. Compositional Sketches: In the spaces provided plan out your composition. Think
about where the boxes will be threaded, how they will interact and where they will be
placed on the page.
3. Compositional Sketches: In the spaces provided plan out your composition. Think
about where the boxes will be threaded, how they will interact and where they will be
placed on the page.
