Obtaining and encouraging children's health sets them up for life by reducing chronic disease risk. A child's health is heavily influenced by parents, family, community, and society. The World Health Organization defines health as complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not just the absence of disease.

health as the “state of complete physical, mental,
and social well-being and not merely the absence of
disease or infirmity.”
2. There are 6 KLA’s taught to primary school
students with Personal Development, Health &
Physical Education being one.
It is acknowledged that teachers often devote
more time to other KLA’s to improve their overall
marks in the Naplan testing.
Teachers need to understand the importance of
PDHPE and devote equal teaching time to the
KLA.
Teaching children how to live a healthy lifestyle
will improve the quality of life for all students.
3. PDHPE in primary schools teach
relevant skills allowing students to
be happy, healthy and productive.
Students aim to understand
themselves and others.
Students make informed decisions
in their life.
Students Develop lifelong
attitudes to physical activity.
4. The PDHPE K-6 syllabus focuses on five skills
that allows students to improve movement
and health outcomes. These are:
- Communicating
- Interacting
- Decision Making
- Problem Solving
- Moving
5. The PDHPE K-6 syllabus explores a variety of
key concepts that fall under eight strands.
