Preparing for Worship
Power of Preparation
• Theme – Know the theme of the service, church,
year, sermon topic, etc, which is essential to proper
song selection.
• Rehearsal – should occur on a regular basis
• Communication --
With God (Proverbs 16:3)
With the Pastor (Proverbs 15:22)
• Focus – Worship should never be based solely on
emotion
• Excellence – Pursue excellence in worship by
leading with your whole heart. (Colossians 3:23,24)

the Lord and not to men, knowing that from
the Lord you will receive the reward of the
inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”

• Know the importance of
the part you play as a
singer/psalmist.
• In other words, come to
rehearsal prepared with the

• Take notes during rehearsal
• Have the proper attitude by
remaining teachable
• Study your music/parts/lyrics
during personal time
• Read and meditate on any
related scriptures prior to
rehearsal
• Be yielded to the Spirit of the God
and the direction of the Pastor

of worship, UNITY is
essential(Psalm 133).

choir and minister of music

deeply, sincerely, showing love
and fear to God
• Causes us to reflect on the
majesty and goodness of
God, contrasted to our own
unworthiness
