Jeffrey T. Guterman received his B.A. in psychology from Boston University in 1980, his M.S. in counseling psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 1985, his M.S. in family therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 1991, and his Ph.D. in family therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 1992. He received personal psychotherapy, training, and supervision in rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) from REBT's founder Albert Ellis. After receiving his doctorate in family therapy, he shifted to a solution-focused approach to counseling. Guterman is a licensed mental health counselor in Florida.
