- 1. Spiritual Maturity… Growing your relationship with CHRIST Ephesians 4:17-24
- 2. Ephesians 4:17-24 17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.
- 3. Ephesians 4:17-24 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.
- 4. Ephesians 4:17-24 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
- 5. Ephesians 4:17-24 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
- 6. Ephesians 4:17-24 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
- 7. Ephesians 4:17-24 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
- 8. This means… • Instructions for Christian Living • To become what Christ want us to be… • The old way has to go. Old is out, New is in.
- 9. This means… • Goal of every Christian - continually renewed in the spirit of your mind towards Spiritual Maturity • Walk the Talk --- Walk the Word of God
- 10. Our Goal is Maturity Our Priority
- 11. 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- 12. Our Goal is Maturity Spiritual Maturity is the ability to recognize with our spirit and do, by God’s grace, those things that are pleasing to God and in harmony with the principles of His Word.
- 13. Our Goal is Maturity Spiritual Maturity - Not related to Age, Physical age, but according to life, growth and maturity to know more about Christ and be like Christ.
- 14. Our Goal is Maturity
- 15. Maturity is not Overnight It requires Constant Progression / Transformation… Not perfection It is a process that requires becoming less self-conscious and more God-conscious (WWJD)
- 16. Romans 12:1-2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
- 17. Maturity is not Overnight
- 18. Change starts within us.
- 19. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
- 20. Change starts within us.
- 21. Change starts within us. Unfortunately Today’s Christian Rule. Only 1% may read the BIBLE 99% will read a CHRISTIAN
- 22. Change starts within us. Spiritual Maturity is NOT just what we Believe… It is evident by HOW we BEHAVE! HOW we ACT & RESPOND!
- 23. Colossians 2:7 rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
- 24. Change starts within us. Once we accepted CHRIST as our savior we need to live and grow to become like CHRIST.
- 25. Change starts within us. Our Challenge: Train & Discipline ourselves to be conformed to His image & Staying connected to Him.
- 26. Change starts within us. VS.
- 27. Change starts within us. VS. *Saved, *Seated, *Satisfied, STAGNANT Grow together --- in LOVE.
- 28. Change starts within us. LOVE helps us grow up together in one, united body of Christ, His Church
- 29. Ephesians 4:15-16 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
- 30. Ephesians 4:15-16 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work
- 31. Change starts within us. HOW? The CHURCH togetherness helps the Christians to BUILD UP THEMSELVES --- IN LOVE.
- 32. Change starts within us. 1. EACH PART DOES ITS WORK – Each joint is busy serving one another NO ROOM FOR IDLENESS
- 33. Change starts within us. 2. WE ARE BUSY IN LOVE TO SERVE AND TO LOVE. LOVE binds us Together inspite of our individual differences…
- 34. Change starts within us.
- 35. Change starts within us.
- 36. START with VISION & STRATEGY We need to have a vision of growing towards Christ... We need to step-up to make our Church healthy…
- 37. Romans 5:3-4 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
- 38. START with VISION & STRATEGY Actively using gifts to minister to other believers in the Church. Has gained understanding from the Word of God and experience.
- 39. START with VISION & STRATEGY Is learning and practicing wisdom and patience. Does not rely on feelings and emotions but rely to the Word of God.
- 40. START with VISION & STRATEGY
- 41. START with VISION & STRATEGY We need to Develop a TRUE LOVE for others: Churches thrive, grow and survive when LOVE endures. LOVE shows our relationship to GOD and to others.
- 42. Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
- 43. 1. Growing in a Christian Life is ongoing - Continuing Process. 2. Stay focused on the important things, not distracted by momentary troubles. 3. Keep your eyes on the goal, not the problem. FOCUS:
- 44. Story: Brethren with glass of water!
- 45. Lesson: It is the same with our LIFE. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we don't have time to see the mistakes of others. We will reach out a helping hand to them and concentrate on our own walk with the Lord." Let LOVE fill in our hearts, not
- 46. Take Away: • Have a personal relationship with CHRIST. • Understanding the Scriptures and applying it in our lives. • Live a Life like CHRIST

- Spirituality is a condition of openness to the Holy Spirit as well as responsiveness to the will of God as it is made clear to us. While Maturity as the full range of understanding of the knowledge and will of God, increasing in depth as a Christian grows older.
- Spiritual Maturity isn’t measured by how high you jump in praise or how good you are in singing, praying but how straight you walk in obedience… By knowing God more through His Word.
- Remove the old and begin a New - Maturity is a process - it is a God's design for us by God's grace!
- STAGNATION = IGNORANCE & SIN versus Growing together in LOVE Saved but no confidence in faith

- IDLENESS – Devils workshop and too that breeds destructive criticism, insecurity , jealousy, envy, pride…
- Processes need to be developed to enable people to discover their spiritual gifts. We need to give people ministry opportunities in which to serve. Maturity is not measured by the number of times a person attends church, but by the quality of their spiritual life and their contribution to the needs of others.
- Once placed, we need to provide continual encouragement, coaching and resources in order for them to be effective. Salvation is the work of God not by our works. We should be growing in Christ direction not the other way around.
- Encourage one another, we need to have a sense of belonging, we need to be connected, church is a christian community growing together. God makes us a part of his larger family when we are born again. But then we should covenant in a local body and live in community with them, agreeing to live by certain established godly principles and standards. Membership doesn’t save us. But it enables us to grow and become spiritually mature in Christ. As we are the Body of Christ.
- Goal - begin to grow in relationship with Him. Growing in a Christian Life is ongoing - Continuining Process, Not Stagnant. Conformed / Shape of his Likeness - His Character Christians need to realize great people are just ordinary people with an extraordinary amount of determination. If we run from problems, we’ll never be able to become what God wants us to become.
- genuine repentance = change of attitude = change of thoughts = change of behavior
- Its not about Church, we need to have focus back on God. But we still need to have A healthy relationship with a local church is like a healthy marriage. It only work when grounded in the selfish commitment and non-consumerist covenant.
