We progress in our faith through perseverance. We each face trials, challenges, and uncertainty. We grow, not by giving up, but by facing these things head on through faith. We persevere through them.
2. We all face situations we need to persevere through
3. Joseph persevered through uncertainty “ Joseph's master took him and put him in prison.” (Genesis 39:20)
4. Perseverance enables us to know certainty even during uncertainty [Joseph said to his brothers,] “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done.” (Genesis 50:20)
5. Moses persevered through a bad and slow start “ Pharaoh gave this order to the [overseers]: 'You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks; let them go and gather their own straw. But require them to make the same number of bricks as before.'” (Exodus 5:6-7)
6. Perseverance enables us to finish strong “ There the LORD showed him the whole land [and] said to him, 'This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, “I will give it to your descendants.”'” (Deuteronomy 34:1-4)
7. James teaches us that trials test our faith and produce perseverance “ Consider it pure joy...whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. (James 1:2-3)
8. Perseverance enables us to mature in faith and become complete Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete....” (James 1:4)
